Csókakő is a hidden gem in Hungary, nestled in the Vértes Mountains with breathtaking views over the Mór valley. Built in the 13th century, the has been partially restored, preserving its medieval charm while offering safe access to towers and walls. It's free to visit and ideal for families, hikers, and history lovers alike. The surrounding nature adds to the peaceful atmosphere, making it a perfect day trip destination. With scenic walking trails, informative signs, and photo-worthy vistas, Csókakő offers an authentic, less touristy experience that combines history, adventure, and the beauty of the Hungarian countryside. This is a beautifully preserved and refurbished castle. The entrance is free! You can of course contribute to the maintenance efforts if you wish (encouraged). You'll enter at the lowest level of the and there will be a lot of steep stairs going up to all the levels so be prepared to climb up tgem. It's worth it though because the views are beautiful along the way. There are a bunch of info sings all along the route with the history of the castle. There's even a small church on one of the levels. We didn't plan our visit here, just saw it from the road and decided to pop in. It was really worth it. Parkin is not free in the lot below the nor in the surrounding streets! Lovely viewing point. Worth to stop in this village and walk up to the from the car park. It's free to visit. Little hiking up on the hill. Friendly cats & a security guy are at the entrance. Good to see that in few cases the history saved in Hungary and open for people. Nice place, amaizing panorama. Thanks to the people who worked on maintenance It is a little gem at the foot of the Vértes mountain in the gate of many interesting and exciting hiking trips. The entry is free and that is a big plus nowadays. During the last few decades it has been renovated so much care and love when you visit it you are going to feel it. Even the is tiny but the view from the top is amazing. By the way you only need to pay for the parking which is 500 HUF for a full day. It is getting more popular and I believe not undeservingly. Worth visiting. The is not too large (not too overwhelming for kids), no entrance fee (parking is 500Ft). Recommended. Peaceful surroundings with nice view from the castle. Worth visiting. There are 2 ways to get up to the castle. Easy way route or a little slight challenge via the hiking route. Parking was only 500ft for the entire day. There were 2 little stalls open selling food and beverages. Really beautiful and historical place and nice weekend program Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
