I even told her I wanted her autograph because she's basically famous among pilgrims—and she laughed and gave me the sweetest smile. She kept bringing out little things to eat, making sure I was well taken care of, and the hospitality was beyond anything I expected. There are also some really nice Camino souvenirs and useful items for sale—perfect if you need a little something for the journey. We stopped for a little break here and we're greeted with the warmest welcome. The sweet ladies wanted to make sure we left the place happy and refreshed. My friend took out his ukelele and everyone in the bar started singing along to an Elvis song. We took some lovely group pictured and I was able to buy some cute souvenirs. Don't skip this place!! At Casa Avelina, the food options are limited to a small selection of bocadillos (crusty bread sandwiches), which were basic but satisfying—nothing fancy, just bread with simple meats and cheese. They were €3.80 each. Order at the bar and ask for the bocadillo menu. While I appreciated the break, the place felt overhyped compared to some of the glowing Google reviews and the reviews I’d seen in pilgrim blogs. It’s a modest, slightly cluttered spot, run by two kind women, with straightforward amenities. A good stop if you’re passing through, but manage your expectations. A cafe bar for the local area. We were absolutely exhausted from walking all day on the Camino, so Casa Avelina was definitely what we needed! We got chairs to rest our feet on, and the food is beyond delicious. Would definitely recommend to anyone passing through. Pilgrims get the warmest greeting here. Sit down at a table and the gorgeous lady comes to take your order but not before encouraging you to put your feet up on the stools provided. The sandwiches are huge and there’s a roll of tinfoil to take the leftovers away in, so I can’t be the first pilgrim not to have been able to finish mine. A great place to stop, wonderful Camino experience. We stopped off for a drink and a sandwich while on the Camino Ingles. This place is famous among pilgrims and for good reason. The welcome and friendliness is out of this world. The ladies running the place are full of chat and love to take photos and swap stories with everyone. So far the best experience on my trip. Such amazing people in this magical bar. Even though they were full, they treated me like their own grandmother. They talked with me, made sure I was okay. They had amazing beer and huge Spanish sandwiches. They saw I couldn’t finish it and brought me foil to wrap it up. The lady owner gave me a stool for my sore legs, and in the end, she didn’t even accept a tip (I secretly left it on the bar, so I hope it reached her). Amazing, amazing, amazing.
