I went on a weekday morning during low tide, and the seemed endless, perfect for a walk, collecting shells, or just enjoying the open space. After the tide went out, I saw lots of jellyfish, razor clam shells, and seashells scattered across the sand. The highlight is definitely the art installation: 100 life size cast iron figures standing across the beach, all facing the sea. At first, I thought they were people walking far out, but they turned out to be statues. Up close, with moss covering their faces and bodies, they look striking and a little eerie. There aren’t many facilities around (just the occasional ice cream van), so if you plan to stay longer, bring your own and snacks. Excellent for stretching of the legs and other activities. Tons of fresh air. Parking reasonably priced. We typically down to the indoor swimming pool (silver thing/ domed roof) and grab a cuppa at the affordably priced cafe. Toilets at the car park. Fair to good wheelchair access to promenade Nice few hours spent here, we got the train as staying nearby. Have read a lot about reviewers saying nothing there etc, well at least that means we are spared the awful seaside tat that usually accompanies these sort of places. We found it interesting and thought provoking, the statues are quite a spectacle, very pleased they were not removed. Our time spent there was a Tuesday afternoon and it was fairly quiet. Unlike Formby beach, you can park your car in Crosby public car park free of charge and have a very short to the (literally less than 1 min, no hills or whatever), you can also use the toilette in Crosby Leisure Centre (again Formby does not have this advantage).
