Traditional Austrian wine place with wines from the region (not always great unfortunately) for little money, great snacks and an amazing view over the valley. While its generally cheap, they charge quite a bit for each piece of bread, so be a bit careful there. Very nice place with amazing view. Good prices on the menu, pity we could not taste the food, since the "old" lady serving us was taking forever to take the orders (first drink and then food, she said, but if you do this for all tables...). After waiting more than 40 minutes and finishing our drinks, we had to leave, and to pay the few drinks, it also took a while because the lady did not want to come to our table (to the point that we had to go look for the "boss" to pay). I know this place is run by "old" locals, but still, this is not a justification for the extremely low service, I am sorry. LOVE this place. My fiancé and I came here in 2014 and it remains a favorite romantic, quiet dinner destination. I also came here with a group of 15 or so--no problems whatsoever. The servers are consistently helpful and friendly, willing to explain unfamiliar dishes. Restrooms are fine. Food and drink of excellent quality and more than adequate portion size. The prices are great. They serve their own wine and many apricot-based products. These are called Marillen in Austria. He view is likely the best in all of Krems: you can see all the way across the Danube Valley to Göttweit Abbey. In short: highly recommended. A great view for sure. The hike up at the churches staircase is wonderful. The nearby Rebentor is divine. And after a few Gspritzter there the hike down is a discovering adventure... There are too many flies, seriously. Can't concentrate. But the fresh wine and Geselchtes was delicious. And they served hot bread thankfully. Lovely and magical. We stumbled onto this place after a long walk from Castle Durnstein. The hostess welcomed our hungry group of 8, despite arriving 10 minutes before opening time. Beautiful and homey rooftop patio overlooking the river. We enjoyed sturm and Veltliner, along with baskets of bread and large platters of cheese. Highly recommend. Friendly enough but the service was a disaster. Veltliner was I suppose drinkable, but not close to something I would call good. Outside area closed and the interior was dark with a basement feeling. We even tried for over 30 minutes to pay (no exaggeration!). We missed our train. Jause plate was average at least. No apology for being ignored for extended periods of time. “A Hidden Gem with a View of the Donau” This Heuriger is the perfect blend of authentic Austrian charm and breathtaking scenery. The moment you step in, you’re welcomed with the warm, rustic atmosphere that only a true family-run Heuriger can offer. The selection of local wines is excellent—fresh, Grüner Veltliner and smooth Donau Riesling that pair perfectly with hearty Brettljause platters and seasonal dishes. The real highlight, though, is the terrace. From here, you have an uninterrupted view of the Donau, with its calm, glistening waters reflecting the changing light. Whether you come for a lazy afternoon with friends or a romantic evening, the setting is unforgettable.
