I was however severy disappointed because the anniversary exhibition about Pori was fully in Finnish. Nothing was presented even in Swedish the second official language of Finland. The main exhibit in three floors had English texts (no Swedish here either). It told the story of Pori area and living from stone age to this day. While the items were interestingly described with additional information in electronic displays the characrer descriptions left a lot to be desired. Most made interesting statements like "her art represented women in ways that broke the contemporary image about them at the time." but there were no further information to be found. Only standard boring historical facts like lifedates, schools and career info making one of the most interesting parts of the exhibit irritatingly bland. This is clearly focused to cater to the needs of the people living in the area and offers only an interesting child friendly look around for international guests. There for example are play corners and multiple child height "open a door and see items". In this light the dark humour fridge magnets on sale that displayed Satakunta as an area where they don't speak English and instead give asylum seekers only a season pass to the local hockey games seemed more on the spot than irony. Great exhibits, this summer large collection of old professional photos from early 1900s century Pori. Great lots of things on display from different ages of Finland, Definitely worth a visit and the entry fee is not expensive. Lots of items from the very beginning of Satakunta, Pori. Happy section on Pori Big Band! Nice museum, very well made exhibition. Bit too focused on Pori instead of whole Satakunta. Interesting! All about Pori's history. 😊👍👌 As an art student, my visit to Satakunta was a mesmerizing experience filled with a diverse array of artistic expressions. From classical Finnish paintings depicting the region's natural beauty to avant-garde sculptures exploring abstract concepts, the showcased a wide spectrum of artistic styles. I was captivated by the intricate textile art illustrating local folklore and enchanted by the innovative multimedia installations that blurred the line between reality and imagination. This curated collection not only broadened my artistic perspective but also left me inspired to experiment with new mediums and themes in my own creative endeavors. Satakunta Museum, with its rich tapestry of art, proved to be a treasure trove for any aspiring artist, offering a glimpse into the boundless world of artistic possibilities. Beautiful with plenty if exhibitions Nice with a coherent presentation of history. My only complaint would be that not all information is in English or Swedish, which makes it harder for foreign nationals to understand. It was my first time traveling to Pori and the Satakunta region in general. Hence, a visit to the was such a great introduction or wrap up of the history and culture of the local to a foreign newbie. The is surprisingly well-maintained and content with standard stories, collections and visual models and figures in all topics of geography, history, economics, politics and religion. If you would like a deep dive into details, it would approximately 3 hours. My favorite collection in my is the persevered general grocery store. Such an interesting and inspiring story behind. As a foreigner, I did not know introverted Finnish were fond of gossiping while shopping too. 😀 If there is any suggestion from my side for future improvements, probably the would need much more updates for English translations to the text content (e.g. explanation, reference on objects). This would definitely boost the rate of foreign visitors to one of the biggest museums in Pori. Overall, it was such a lovely experience with the and its friendly staff for me. I will recommend this destination to my friends if they plan to visit Pori for sure! 💕 Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
