Some of us refer to this as Broadmeadows Estuary or Malahide Estuary. Famed for its and birdlife this part of the estuary is easily accessed by car or bike. The River Broadmeadows is quite an important river drainage wise but there is scant attention to it. I include a few photos. The area is full of birdlife, with and cranes often seen gliding gracefully across the water. Small fish can sometimes be spotted leaping from the surface, adding to the lively atmosphere. The Broadmeadows River begins north of Dunshaughlin and gently winds its way to the sea just beyond Swords. Though it plays an important role in drainage, it feels more like a hidden natural treasure. It’s a perfect place for walking, birdwatching, or simply enjoying peaceful views by the water.
