Mornington Strand consists of dunes, known locally since at least the mid-eighteenth century as The Burrows, see below, and a wide sandy strand which extends south from the River Boyne towards Bettystown. The links course of Laytown and Bettystown Golf Club is situated within the Mornington dune-system. Most amazing beach, quiet, peaceful, clean and lovely. Lovely clean beach, ideal for early morning walk. Approx 2.5 Km to Bettystown. This is a place I'd prefer not to share with anyone, as it's one of my favourite places to go for a peaceful walk, along the mouth of the River Boyne and along the sandy and dunes towards Bettystown, looking out into the Irish sea. Beautiful and an area of environmental interest. It doesn't get much better than this and while walking yesterday I spotted my favourite Photographic Artist Eimhear Collins at her craft taking photographs of the the Boyne reaching the sea. Perfect spot to the dogs! Clean beach, gorgeous views, and always a spot to the car. Nice Long Beach. Good spot for fishing and paddle boarding too. Not sure if you can and camp but the spot is perfect for that. You can drive up and so close to the to get sunrise . Great for dogs and swimming. In the summer some people don't keep their children on leads which can be a problem but if you shout at them they usually run back to their parents Lovely beach. The in general is five stars, its really nice for a swim and a but the county councils planning at making a car is a -5 stars. They recently put down big, hideous cement blocks to take away places to park. And the road going into it, is shocking with bolders on either side stopping cars from passing one another. And if your lucky enough to get a parking spot it's very difficult to turn around. Leading to having to reverse all the way down the narrow road. We're entitled to go to our local but that's becoming impossible. It needs to be sorted out.
