We had to pay 65 Euro per person, but it's really amazing and worth every cent! Included was the cable railway (great view), trip with trucks and a who you need to walk around up there! You can walk up or take a bike, but it's dirty and dusty (hard to breathe), takes much time and you don't have as much opportunities as which a guide! On top of the Etna it's really cold, so you really need a jacket! And my advice is to make that trip in the morning (no later than 10 am!!!) because later there is much fog and you cannot see anything and hundreds of people standing in line for hours to go up!! 65 Euro per person is much money, but I would do it every time again Spectacular views, breath taking surroundings The climb was worth every minute! Having lunch on 3000m above sea level was splendid! A must-visit volcano that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding terrain and places you’ve never seen before. Unser Aufstieg zur Torre del Filosofo am Ätna war ein Erlebnis, das wir so schnell nicht vergessen werden. Zuerst ging es mit der Gondel bergauf, dann weiter mit den typischen 4x4 Bussen durch die faszinierende Vulkanlandschaft – ein Gefühl, als würde man eine andere Welt betreten. Das letzte Stück legten wir mit einem Bergführer zu Fuß zurück. Die Aussicht wurde mit jedem Schritt spektakulärer und die Stimmung war einzigartig – rau, mystisch und gleichzeitig unglaublich friedlich. Wir hatten richtig Glück mit dem Wetter: immer wieder kam die Sonne durch, obwohl es zwischendurch bewölkt war. Besonders kurios: Sobald der Wind nachließ, wurden wir von unzähligen kleinen Marienkäfern umgeben – und leider auch von kleinen Fliegen, die unangenehm bissen. Ein faszinierendes, fast surreales Naturphänomen! Ganz oben angekommen war die Aussicht atemberaubend. Von weitem sah man die zwei wieder aktiven Hauptkrater aus denen gelber blauer und teilweise auch weisser Rauch kam. Der Boden war spürbar warm, und man spürte die Energie des aktiven Vulkans unter den Füßen. Als Abschluss bin ich noch eine Runde mit der Drohne geflogen – die Perspektive von oben ist einfach magisch. 🔁 Fazit: Absolut empfehlenswert! Wer Natur, Abenteuer und geologische Wunder liebt, sollte sich diese Tour nicht entgehen lassen. Tipp: Lange Kleidung, Wanderschuhe und etwas Geduld mit Insekten nicht vergessen! This place was approachable with the unimog trip, I am not sure if they will let tourists without the to enter alone. Dont hesitate going up to the top, it doesnt matter if its a bit cloudy - the experience is amazing and makes you feel to be on the moon. Absolutely must seen. It's like coming to other planet. Breathtaking views included. Be aware of whether, because even then at Sicily is +35, upstairs is less than +20 and really strong wind. Tour also was amazing, our made it at three languages at the same time :) You can climb here alone from the bus stop. 6.6 euros return from Catania. Don't waste money on a guide. Highest point we could visit with out Tourguide. Beautiful view, it was a clear day at first, so we could look very very far. Beautiful view at the Etna top at this point. Just to clarify that the top does not mean the rim of the active crater or anywhere close to it. The closest point you get to with a is about a kilometer from the billowing crater. The price is excessive as for the full journey to get to that point you pay 78E an adult and 50 E a child. Kids under 5 are free. It is definitely a gold mine for the locals. But hey you only come here once in a life. If you want to save some money you could pay 50E adult and 30E child to do the cable car and then walk. They claim it's prohibited to walk all the way to where the buses take you but I don't buy that as I saw people doing it (though you better be fit).
