The Castle of Porto Palermo

Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. Beautiful views from there. Entry is 300 lek - cash only, better have smaller notes or coins. The information is scarce (just few info boards) and the rooms are empty and mostly dark. Interesting castle. We visited during preparations of some concert, so cables, chairs, stuff was everywhere and it kind od ruined the photos. The views are nice. Great price of history. The path leading to the was not really welcoming, lot of rubbish everywhere (like in all Albania). Porto Palermo is a great stop if you’re exploring the Albanian Riviera. The entrance fee is 300 LEK (cash only), and there’s plenty of parking right in front, which makes it super convenient. The itself is small but interesting, with beautiful views over the bay and some great photo opportunities. There’s also a lovely little beach right next to it which is perfect for a quick swim or just relaxing after your visit. It’s a nice, easy visit that doesn’t take too long and is definitely worth the stop if you’re in the area! A small fortress, a well-preserved piece of history, but not well-showcased. There are no legends or descriptions of the times and history of the fortress. There is no dedicated parking; you can park your car near the bay and walk for about 5 minutes. The fee is minimal, and it's worth a visit, but again, without descriptions, a story... the experience feels dry. I had passed near this tens of times, but never actually been inside, until now. The inside was divided into different rooms, which used to serve different purposes such as cooking, dining, meeting, storage, etc. What I liked was the top of the castle, which we had access from stairs inside the castle. I really liked the slope the architects had given the roof for rainwater drainage. The view from the top was great, and for 50ALL (50 cents) you could use the binoculars to enjoy the view in more detail. The was empty on the inside, so a few minutes were enough to see the whole castle. What standed out were the wall openings (frëngji) used for natural lighting, which were very effective. Also, there was a large well inside the castle, which is worth checking. Ali Pasha Tepelena near Porto Palermo Beach is a must—just a quick 5-minute hike up from the pebbly shore. 3€ per person gets you in for those jaw-dropping sea views from the top. Compact, atmospheric, and the perfect beach break; totally elevates your day. Highly recommend! Very nice and big to explore. We had only a few people there, but I think it can get crowded. There is a free parking at the beach (the beach I wouldn't reccommend, because there was quite a lot of trash around, but some people were still there) Porto Palermo is a stunning surprise on Albania’s southern coast. Perfect for a break from beach days, its fortress walls and sea views transport you back in time. Explore, snap photos, and soak in history with a side of Adriatic breeze.
