In a little place called Zundert you will find the roots of Van Gogh. There is a special Van Gogh route. Nearby is the little church of his brother and there is more. I was a little disappointed. They have no Van Gogh paintings/drawings at all and I didn’t learn anything that I couldn’t find out on the internet for free. In the small town of Zundert, the great painter Vincent van Gogh was born in 1853 as the son of a parson. I "found" this house by mistake, during our trip to visit our daughter, temporary living in the Netherlands. Beautiful small for art lovers. Tiny with some intimate audio history about Van Gogh and his birthplace, also family members. They don’t have his paintings so I’d say if you need to pay 9 euros it’s a bit too much, I get in with the card so it’s okay. They also have a nice terrace where you could some peaceful moments when the weather allows. Friendly stuffs and good facilities. Nice with a beautiful backyard. They have some permanent and temporary exhibitions. The shop is quite good. Audio guide is helpful for Van Gogh personal history. De huidige tentoonstelling laat de invloed van Van Gogh zien op het werk van Anselm Kiefer en is een interessant vervolg op de gelijktijdige exposities in het van Gogh- en Stedelijk in Amsterdam. De audiotour is uitgebreid en geeft je een goed beeld. De verbinding tussen Kiefer en van Gogh wordt uitstekend gelegd. Prima ontvangst en toelichting. It is a nice place to visit, but especially for the art by other artists. When you are looking for items made by Vincent van Gogh you can better visit other places. The Vincent Van Gogh Huis is located at the same spot where formerly Vincent‘s birthplace stood, which was demolished in 1903. As for the content of the exhibition, I personally would not say it was very informative or coherent. You‘re led up the stairs into a room where a few furniture pieces are. The audioguide went from one story and bits and bobs from Vincent‘s letters to Theo (sometimes paraphrased) to other stories. As someone who has read numerous books about Vincent and Theo, I could coordinate the pieces of information, however, my sister who knows nothing more of Vincent than his paintings and the fact that he at some point cut off his ear, was confused and then lost interest because she didn‘t know what to do with the randomised stories told in the audioguide. The second room contained artwork from an other artists and quotes from other famous people who were inspired by Vincent. And that was the whole exhibition. I‘d suggest the people in the create a new concept, with a clear line and message. Perhaps they can incorporate Zundert-specific Memories Vincent told. If theres not enough financial means to hire a curator then maybe start a volunteer project to revise the exhibition. I‘m sure there are many motivated people who are passionate about the Van Goghs and would live to create a meaningful experience to the visitors of Zundert. It was very interesting to learn about his early live. It’s a small but the audio tour helped bring it to life. We spent a max 1 hr which included the second (not Van Gigh related), touring the small garden /courtyard and the gift shop. Easy to access using public transport, easy to find, very friendly staff. It was a very short yet informative setting. The audio recordings were very helpful. I learned more about Van Gogh’s life here than in a much larger exhibit in Dallas. Not included in the price is a bonus of seeing the church where his father was the minister and the reason they came to Zundert. I recently visited the Van Gogh House in Zundert, where Vincent van Gogh was born. It was interesting to see his birthplace and explore the village, which gave me a nice sense of where the artist’s life began. However, don't expect to see much related to his art or personal belongings, as most of his works and artifacts are housed in other museums, like the Van Gogh in Amsterdam. You can also visit the church next to the house, where you’ll find the grave of Van Gogh’s stillborn brother, also named Vincent. He was born and died exactly one year before Vincent’s birth. If you're not a Dutch speaker youre going to be disappointed. There were no English guides or maps. They did have a pamphlet which I was prepared to purchase but the item wasn't listed on the till so couldn't. If I'm honest, I found it rather sad and the fridge magnets and children's comic featuring a zombie version of vincent called Van Goooooaaaagh, all to depressing. If you want to FEEL Vincent, go to Nuenen. You can actually stand in the field and view the house where he painted Potato Eaters and the Windmill where he stored his paintings, which is amazing piece . Also the studio behind the house where he lived . Veel meer verwacht van zijn kunst. Vriendelijk onthaal. Boeiend om het geboortedorp van Vincent van Gogh te ontdekken. Ook het Gebouw zelf is niet Goed herkenbaar als . Binnengekomen is er geen enkele aanwijzing qua route. Er is veel te weinig personeel om zelfs maar onze museumkaart te scannen. Het lijkt of je dat zelf moet doen en daarna wordt het nog eens over gedaan door een overvraagde mevrouw. Zelfs als je er al snel weer uit wilt is dat nog niet zo Makkelijk.
