A surprise pearl in such a village. Beautiful paintings and altar. Big size church with monumental spirit. It's not easy to find nice churches in the Nederlands any more, most of the Catholic ones are new with awful designs and the protestants are very simple. This one it's completely different from the rest of the churches in the country. Good hommage to St. Peter's Cathedral in Rome. I just couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw this amazing the first time. Basiliek van de H.H. Agatha en Barbara was built between 1842 and 1884. Its nave and interior were modeled after St. Peter's in Vatican, while the facade is a replica of the of St. John Lateran in Rome. Both St. Peter's and of St. John Lateran are Major Basilicas! (There are 4 in total). Elements inspired by their counterparts in Rome include Michelangelo's Pietà, Bernini's baldachin, the Chair of Saint Peter, and Bernini's Gloria. (From wiki) The was designed by architect Pierre Cuypers, who is also the architect for Dutch Rijksmuseum and Amsterdam Central Station. A hidden gem in a Dutch town! The Oudenbosch is a stunning replica of St. Peter’s in Rome, with impressive architecture and a peaceful atmosphere. Climb the dome for great views, and don’t miss the museum in the crypt. Worth a stop if you're nearby! The is open daily from 10:00 to 16:30, with a Eucharistic celebration at 11:00 on Sundays. The crypt houses a museum and shop, open daily from 13:00 to 16:00. Absolutely stunning basilica. Extraordinary replica of the St. Peter in Rome. Has the facade of the St. John Lateran. Impressive ! a very positive feelings and most beautiful in the town of Oudenbosch & this replica of the St. Peter's Cathedral in Rome. The church care taker was very friendly person. He explained the history very nicely. Really cool place. A little "Basilica di San Pietro" in Rome. You have the chance to get a spectacular view of the inside part from the floor above, just under the dome. And good museum and souvenir shop just under the main floor. Great place to visit. It was interesting, but not a must see. I wouldn't recommend going out of your way to visit but if you find yourself nearby definitely visit. An absolute must see! Absolutely gorgeous! A wonderful place that connects the earth with the heavens, totally worth it, a must see if you want to visit some amazing places. Lovely experience no waiting line almost no one there. Advise arriving arround 12:30 to be able to enter the dome and walk up in there A gem in a town Oudenbosch. We were pleasantly surprised by the beauty and richness of this basilica. You can climb the stairs to the dome and see everything from above. A temple in honour of St.Agatha & Barbara, built in glory of the God, inspired by 2 cathedrals in Vatican and Rome, a beautiful monument to human mind, soul and labour. Absolutely beautiful inside with amazing marble painted pillars and roofs most amazing cathedral I have ever been to and really recommend do not hesitate to go upstairs, it is worth and very beautiful :) Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
