The People: The restaurant is called "the house kitchen" and thats pretty much what you get. A family run place, with their kids running around outside having fun and daughters serving food. It's a very pleasant environment and it adds a very personal touch. The location: You are surrounded by trees(typical Latvia) With outdoor and indoor seating. There's space for your kids to play, with a slide, climbing frame, swing and sandpit. And its only 15 minutes from Valmiera. Suitable for larger groups of people. The food/drink: Super fresh ingredients, this family smoke their own meats and fish, make their own homemade sausages and season everything very well. They cook all the meats over real charcoal with a sashliks master chef cooking on the grills. We had the tastiest chicken sashliks here, and wonderfully marinaded too. And they offer very nice kvass from the tap. The Price: I dont think you will find better value for money. 1. The quality of the food, 2. Supporting a lovely local family, 3. €9.50 for chicken shashliks with potatoes and salad if pretty good price. 4. The location I'm sad we only found this place on our last week here. But we will come back again before we fly home. For 7 people with drinks we paid €65 thats just incredible value. It doesn’t get more Authentic Countryside than this place.
