The staff were very kind and welcoming, and it was full of fascinating artifacts to explore with accompanying text in Estonian and English (and Finnish, if I recall correctly). There was also a special exhibition of photo portraits and biographies of a hundred or so Estonians born from the 1920s to the present. I would absolutely recommend visiting if you're in Kuressaare and are interested in history, particularly the local perspective on this fraught and complex era.
