The Old Town of Ozalj is a truly impressive and historic site that's well worth a visit. Perched on a cliff above the Kupa river, the offers some stunning views and a very atmospheric setting. Walking through the courtyards and the old walls gives you a real sense of the history of the region and the noble families that once lived here. The grounds are well-maintained, and there are some interesting exhibits inside the that provide a deeper look into the area's past. The is a beautiful place for a walk, and the natural scenery around it is lovely. However, it's not a huge complex, and you can see most of it in a relatively short amount of time. I felt that some of the exhibits and information could have been more extensive or interactive. That said, the sheer beauty of the location and the historical significance make it a very solid four-star destination. It's a great stop if you're traveling in the Karlovac County area. Please note that payment can only be made in cash. Beautiful place to enjoy a refreshing swim in the with the family. There are (a few) restrooms and changing rooms. There's also a parking area and a bar with some fast food options. You can also visit the castle. very and interesting, especially the outer part and the walls, a railway line passes under the city through a tunnel, the view from the walls is impressive Go to the hill and see the old city. It's a place with a great view on the river. The bridge on the entrance is a bit old so be careful. Take a walk around the and down the Slava Raškaj route. Also see Munjara. Great for the short weekend trip It's very cool, definitely drop by if you are passing near Ozalj. You can see everything but the for free and there is a self service souvenir magnet machine. The views from the outer walls are also amazing so even if you are not into castles it's worth visiting just for the views. Everything that you can see on the attached photos can be seen for free. Overall very recommended. On your way to or through Ozalj, take 45-60 minutes and visit Ozalj. Has a breathtaking view on the Kupa river, good part of the has been renovated including the small on the 2nd floor. We had a very time learning more about Slava Raskaj, Zrinski and Frankopani. Big thanks to Braca Hrvatskog Zmaja for keeping a part of proud Croatian history alive, so that young ones have possibility to learn about it, and know who their forefathers were. Beautiful! No other words. View of the meander of the Kupa below city is just penomenal, and the city it self is a gem in itself. This was by far one of the most unpleasant and unusual visits I’ve ever had. The staff member at the seemed completely disinterested in his work-he didn’t greet us, avoided eye contact, and appeared eager to rush us out. We had initially wanted to take the guided tour, but his extremely odd behavior discouraged us from doing so. At the very least, I would have expected a simple welcome or some basic information about the museum, but there was nothing. The exhibition itself is quite small, though it does contain some interesting artefacts, and the views from and around the are very nice. Today, we visited Stari Grad Ozalj — a historic that looks much larger from the outside than it actually is. While the location and structure are visually appealing, the overall experience left much to be desired. We arrived by taxi from Karlovac, having made an arrangement with the driver to pick us up two hours later. Unfortunately, we only spent about 45 minutes at the before deciding to walk down to the town instead. The main reason? There wasn’t much to do. The inside the was very small and took less than 10 minutes to walk through. Photography wasn’t allowed, not even without flash, which made the visit even more underwhelming for us as tourists who enjoy documenting our experiences. Surprisingly, there was no one at the entrance to sell tickets. On our way out, a man who appeared to also be the tour guide approached us and said we had to pay. We did — 3 euros per person — but it felt strange to only be asked after we had already toured the area. To be honest, I’m not usually a "castle person", but I had hoped for something more immersive. Compared to other castles (even the one in Zagreb), Ozalj felt like a brief stop rather than a true destination. With an hour to spare, we walked down through the surrounding forest path into the town of Ozalj, visited the dam (Hidroelektrana Ozalj 2), enjoyed the scenery, and bought some ice cream. Then we walked back and waited around 20 minutes for the taxi to return. Final Thoughts: Unless you're deeply interested in Croatian local history or architecture, this may not be worth the detour. It's beautiful from the outside, but the experience is brief and lacks engagement. The best part of the trip was actually the walk through nature and the peaceful town below. Beautiful vistas of Kupa and Ozalj town, but the itself could be utilzed more, especially the lush greenery that surrounds it. A beautiful wonderfully situated on the river. Inside there is an interesting exhibition about the history of these areas since the Neolithic era. Interesting exhibits and a very curator. The ticket costs 3 €, it is really worth visiting this amazing place🙂 Beautiful old with lots of history, and a museum, restauration work is ongoing. Lovely vues of the surroundings and Kupa river. Great place to visit, didn't go to this time tho. Was a sunny day and view from other side of old town is maginificent. Check out the bench and chill a little 😄 Beautiful place, green park around, great for walking. The has been reconstructed recently and looks stunning! Amazing view from the walls! The is represented by a very knowledgeable Archaeologist and the presentation through the justifies a “superb “ Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
