Just been walking round here with the dog and have really enjoyed it. There’s lots of routes and some big open areas for running about. There’s some interesting landmarks and views out over areas of Leeds as well. Only thing is at the moment it’s very muddy and wet. My walking boots were ok for it but those or wellies definitely needed. I visited today with 5 children, during the summer holidays. It was very busy, but managed to get parked in the overflow carpark. This is not wheelchair friendly but the other two car parks are. The shop, and gallery area are all suitably accessible . We did not go in them. The toilets are clean and stocked well there is also a disabled and baby change in these facilities. The floor was a little muddy but outside was muddy. We were not visiting the hall or gardens today, there was a trail going on in the gardens, at a cost of a £1 per trail sheet . We walked down towards the stream, there are two ways one which is accessible , and one with stair's. The children had great fun exploring the pathways and playing in the stream. We sat at one of the many picnic benches and ate our lunch. We then had a run around the parklands playing football and frisbee . There are lots of dog walkers, so it is a great place for all the family and to visit. All the children were very excited to go in the woodland play ground, they enjoyed building dens and playing on the slide and monkey bars. There is some broken equipment that has not been replaced for a long time now . There is also a fenced of playground with the usual swings , roundabouts and climbing frames. There is another larger car park down near the visitor center too. We did not go inside the visitor center but we did enjoy an ice cream and a cuppa. £12.40 for 4 cones and a tea. There are two toilets that are clean and accessible with baby change. We enjoyed walking round the country park with my mum's 12 year old Golden Retriever. It was a lovely morning and it was great to see lots of people and enjoying themselves. I now have my own dog, and we go around Oakwell almost daily. It is a wonderful place to walk, with a variety of different walks. Wonderful place to with the kids and dog. The house museum is interesting for adults and children. Gifts shop is good , available toilets and coffee drinks. Nice place to have a relaxing time A regular visitor to Oakwell Hall and Park with my dog as some fantastic walks and great open spaces to throw a ball. Great play area for kids and a nice through the woods with a field in the middle. Will be good for walking dogs! There's also a little refreshment hut with a good selection of ice cream flavours! Stunning place. Natural beauty, peaceful with good toilet facilities. Cafe, small visitor attraction and souvenir shop. The actual Hall is beautiful and enables you to step back in time, gorgeous gardens and country park walks. Great place to go for an hour or so's walk. Friendly walkers and dogs. The Hall is worth a visit. Not expensive to go in. Cafes and free toilets at both car parks. Gift shop near the hall. Children's play area by bottom car park. Accessible tarmac path from the bottom to the top- bit of a climb if you are pushing a wheelchair or buggy. Plenty of places to picnic. Love the trails, the facilities and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The children love visiting and the trails are fun. Always love taking a round the wooded area. Quiet and peaceful. This review is about The Willows cafe at Oakwell Hall - December 2024 The Willows has now taken over the Cafe near the hall. The cafe people are now helpful and kind, quite the opposite from what it was before. Food good. Prices Moderate. But most of all it is now staffed by nice, kind people. We have been to the new cafe several times and the staff attitude has completed changed from the unhelpful people who used to run it. Food now delivered quickly and efficiently even when there are a lot of customers waiting. Oakwell Hall is a wonderful place to and now are allowed in the cafe whilst you eat there - previously they were only allowed to go to the counter. Well done Oakwell Staff for making eating at Oakwell a pleasure again. Please pass this review onto those who run The Willows cafe and to the people who run Oakwell including the Kirklees council.
