The union has lots of cafes, two pubs and a range of food stores to choose from as well as several stores to get most things that you need. Poorly organised for gigs Decent student union building. Usually go to Stylus, which is one of my favourite gig venues, although the bars and shops in the union are good also. We visited to see Dirty Honey in the Stylus. The is within the student union building. Stylus is an impressive with very good acoustics. A balcony surrounds the stage on three sides so viewing is quite extensive. It is like stepping back to the 70's when this style of was the mainstay of the rock music evolution. Long may it survive. An enjoyable evening in such familiar surroundings. Great place , Had a Fab time Great venue! Good beer on tap that's not extortionatly priced like most venues. They never seem to oversell and overcrowd like others too. Probably my favourite in Leeds, similar to project house. Got lots of different food options and events going on. Essentially a central hub for food, events and a place to relax. Reasonable drinks price. Definitely go here again to see a show. Welcoming place, Great refectory and excellent place to breath the university vibrant life. not suitable for a tour bus with trailer. would not return Really good to see music. The sound is not too loud and there are lots of good spots to be able to see the stage wherever you are. Wonderful place for the students to sit and study in groups, gossip, meet new people, make new friends, have food at quite an affordable price, pack up groceries for home , watch big games with friends and many more. Good gig, but basically I'm a 40 year old woman and could have done without the grilling from security about why I dared to walk through a partially open barrier to go to the ladies toilet. There was no other toilet in sight, and the sign was visible so I walked through a gap in the security barrier assuming this was ok. Got out and was asked not once but approx 4 times WHY I had gone in there. I explained the barrier wasn't fully closed but no answer was good enough for this guy. Got no response or apology. Basically felt like a 17 year old kid smelling of vodka sneaking into the toilet.. kind of ruined the night 😂 Terrible place to work. LUU is extremely exploitative of the student population. They don't value the work we put in, they pay us terribly, and managers say they have our backs but then turn around and say they can't do anything when we bring issues to the table. You'll bare this job for maybe just over a year, then leave because of how undervalued LUU makes you feel. But they don't care because they have plenty more of us to rehire! Would not recommend working here under any circumstances!
