Friendly welcome from the lady in reception. Dynamic pricing policy meant we paid 665 NOK for motorhome with electricity and 2 X showers at the beginning of June, very expensive compared to the other sites we have used in the last 6 weeks here. The site does not have many stable ground spaces for motorhomes, so the 4m rule is not abided by and it was busy! The alternative is the mud, with deep ruts where people have been stuck. More gravel pitches are needed, and some delimitation would be nice. Late arrivals just pitch up anywhere. The showers are good but they were dirty in the evening after rain, so could do with twice daily cleaning. Good location, with access to a little beach and you can walk to town if you are fairly fit. Location is amazing close to both city centre and water. Facilities are also great for tents. However, during night there was loud techno/electronic music coming from nearby. Maybe this is what is expect in Kristiansand - I don’t know :-) Anyhow, we had a difficult time sleeping. Price is on the high side. Shower costs extra. Very good camping site. Everything was clean and tidy. Personell were sehr friendly and compitent. Shower and WC sehr sauber. Everything you would wish for at a camping site is there ! Direct on the sea with swimming area and diving boards ! The area is stunning. I can recommend the site 100% We stayed here for 7 nights and loved it! The place is cozy, clean, and well-kept. The staff were friendly and helpful every time we needed something. It was a perfect spot for relaxing and visiting Dyreparken. Would definitely recommend! Good points first The facilities are great, the service/people working there very friendly and helpful and there are some nice walks in the direct area But!! I feel this was a very nice campsite back in the day, but today it felt like they try to stuff as many camping vehicles and tents on the premises as they can possibly get away with , so its very busy , very little space around your car/camper/caravan, and a lit of noise The pricing is exorbitant for what you get And then on top of that 600+ kroner(without electricity) you still have to pay for showers (25 for x minutes of warm water) And they could do with an extra clean of the toilets (overflowing waste baskets etc) They know they are one of few practical locations for folks from or going to the ferry etc and they use/abuse that knowledge to their advantage But for us this was the first and last time, we’d rather drive a little further out next time We arrived at 1 pm to then have to wait for over half an hour to check in. We had 2 medium sized tents and i we had to pay more than a 1000 nok for just 1 night. The tent spots where just rock and gravel. None of the ground was flat. The toilets and showers where clean but some where just flooded with water. If we had known earlier what kind of park this was we would have went through Sweden instead of the boat. WOULD NOT RECOMMENDED!!! Very expensive, not worth the mony. 6 showers of wich 3 out of order during high season !!! Very little privacy between piches. Garbage containers full Friendly personel Pizza bakery Close to swimming facility Welcome to Roligheden – where camping feels less like a nature getaway and more like a chaotic logistics maze with a touch of bureaucratic absurdity. Check-in was already a test of endurance: the reception was a sauna, the staff visibly overwhelmed, and we were told to stick to marked zones – which, strangely, were nowhere to be found on-site. Eventually, a rogue staff member pointed us to a spot the receptionist hadn't even considered. Two employees, two realities. Our pitch? A steep grassy slope, clearly the leftovers after the flat spots went to the RVs – probably because their outlets bring in better money. Tent setup felt more like survival training than vacation. The beach? Crowded and noisy, like a 30°C clearance sale in swimwear. The aim seems to be: pack in as many people as humanly possible. Bathrooms? One keycard for three people. No ventilation, sweaty sauna vibe, and not particularly clean. 25 NOK per hot shower. Tap water? Chlorinated or musty. Trash bins were constantly overflowing, and seagulls turned the site into a battlefield. The grand finale: the campsite lies directly under the airport flight path. Planes roared overhead until midnight and started again before 6:30 AM. Bottom line: Overpriced, overcrowded, and utterly exhausting. Do yourself a favor – camp elsewhere.
