This was our second nature detour on our journey towards Southern Iceland and the Westman Islands;  first we stopped to see the Black Sand Dunes along the Southern Coast/route 34 and took a much needed rest for coffee and pastries in the conveniently located town of Selfoss (about an hour southeast of Reykjavik and an hour northwest of where you board the Landeyjahöfn ferry to Vestmannaeyjar on Haimaey Island - to see the puffins). Although we were there just two weeks ago, the current eruption in Iceland is somewhat contained to the Reykjanes peninsula (near Grindavík and the Blue Lagoon)...Urridafoss is located on the Þjórsá river and seems clear from any destruction at this point.
