The building itself aswell as the statues. Sadly there was a board next to the road saying the schathoes terras was opened but it was false. The terras was closed. I came through during a cycle tour from Groningen. There is free entrance to the garden, which is large and nicely decorated with sculptures. The mansion gives a nice insight on the life in former days here. Nowadays also a neighbouring farmhouse has become part of the premises. Here one can learn a bit on farming in the present past in this area. There are several spots were the worn out traveler/biker can refuel. Nice place to with a beautiful garden to walk around. Everybody is very friendly and you can enjoy having a coffee ☕ outside at the little café /restaurant. A nice place to in addition to DooZoo. Personally, I like the garden with sculptures much more than the castle. For the best experience, it on a sunny day and finish the with a coffee and a cake. A beautiful house and gardens that feels lived in. A warm welcome and good reastaurant. The place is wonderful! The app for kids dough is horrible ! They now only look at a screen and not at the wonderful artifacts! the Garden is awesome with beautiful bronze sculptures! Overall there is enough education available for everyone. The museum is closed for the season but we were able to walk around and still enjoy the beauty of the place. Beautiful place , nice museums near and coffee place . Beautiful exhibitions and a view of how farming was done, where and how the workers lived, the fascinating history about the 'castle', lovely gardens, incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff who spoke really good English. We are so glad we stopped and spent a few hours here. Although we didn't use them, there were two lovely looking cafes too, and QR codes that could be scanned for further information in English and German languages (as info points were in Dutch, but Google translate camera worked well for teanslations too) A great morning activity!
