Himmelbjerget is Denmark's highest point (146 m). We set off on a trail run towards its peak from the Skyttehuset recreation area on the hiking trail that follows the shore of Lake Julso. From the top of Himmelbjerget, we continued the longer inland hiking route back (Limbjerg Kol-Rosenornsbaenk-Knosen-Åsen-Ambrahams Skod-Skyttehuset). There is two kiosk and an hotel near by, so if you are around Denmark and are looking for a chill place to spend a cozy weekend together with a natural place and connect yourself more with natural landscape, nature in general and the feeling is a Forest, go ahead without think twice. You will have to go on the top of the hill and it's very windy in the colder seasons. I have seen dogs around with a leash and wheelchair users can also ride on the top of the hill and stand next to the tower. They can't enter the as it's staircase heaven in there (picture below). You will have to pay with your bank card to have access into the as it's automatic and they do not accept cash money. It's worth entering the for the good view. There are some hotels nearby and campsite but I can imagine they are pricey. There's little shops and food stalls around too but do be aware of the trash bins next to the stalls in the warm weather time. It can be filled with wasps. This is definitely a place you need to if you are traveling to Denmark (often). It's completely for free to admire this beauty! My favorite Heaven Mountain. I used to go here as a kid a few times and now again 50 years later and it has beautiful views, great icecream, wonderful creative sculptures in wood carved into tree trunks. A must see.
