Olavsberget Camping

Porsgrunn, Norway RV park

One of the Most Revieweds in Porsgrunn Frequently mentioned in reviews: Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. Update (after a conversation with the owner in the evening): The campsite belongs to a young couple, who have this site only since 2 seasons. For the hot in the kitchen area there are free NOK at check-in (was unfortunately forgotten with us). The clogged sink is being looked at, for the a plumber will be called. Because of the background info and the friendly conversation and his positive mindest for constructive criticism, I raise from 2 to 4 stars. Conclusion: Camping is decent, very friendly owner who wants to create something really good here in the next few years. If there is any criticism, then it is best to go personally to the reception and tell. :) Old rating: Okay as a drive through place, unfortunately nothing more. Positives: Staff friendly, check-in easy. Well kept grass and good options for tents to stand on. Directly at the beach. Negative: directly on a main road. Sanitary only moderately clean / a bit older. 10NOK for 4min shower, but the was warm only after 1-2min. When showering also no shelf for the things. There is no kitchen, only an outdoor sink, which is clogged. To top it off, the hot here should also cost extra. Who is only looking for a night to sleep, will find it here. Otherwise, better look for alternatives. Pleasant hosts and nice location. We paid 300 nok for mobile home without el for one night. Surface is grass and relatively flat. The facilities are old but clean however the "hot" is not warm, it was a chilly experience in March. You need 10kr coins for the which you can get from the host at check-in but after your 4 minutes are up the shuts off completely. The chemical toilet station is interesting - you have to lift the cassette almost 1 m. above the ground and it is not allowed to use the hose to flush the cassette. There is a rude couple with a rude dog who apparently own the island with the beach - otherwise it looks like a nice beach. We camped in campervan no power used. Over priced for what you got.$350NOK +$10NOK for 4min shower. They had only 1 open which was in the men's block, 1/2 toilets were closed and the washing machine was not bought out from winter storage yet. No value for money. Lovely views near river and sea. A place where you can spend your time with nature, beach, fishing and short hiking. The front building is a nice, modern looking Café, so you kind of expect the camping place to be more modern than it is. The man at the reception spoke English, German and Norwegian, communicating was easy. We were close to the reception, where the WiFi was good. The view from the beach at night was beautiful and it's perfect for swimming. What we didn't enjoy are the showers and the toilets. They look like something from the last Century. Toilets and showers are in separate rooms. There's two cabins in the woman's bathroom. Hot is 10nok for 4 minutes or 10nok for 5 minutes in the other cabin. There's not enough pressure on the heads. Usually at least cold is free but not here, so you can't even wash away soap resedue or rinse the shower. The light turns off after a few minutes, so if you need longer, you're in the dark. There's also no chairs to put stuff on, and no curtain. The coin machines are very high up and hard to reach if you are small. It wasn't very clean either. You also have to pay for warm if you want to wash your dishes, but if the coin machine is full and nobody is at the reception to empty it, you can't wash your dishes with hot either. We stayed here when the main season was already over and we wouldn't recommend it for longer than maybe a day or two. Amazing camping and restaurant, good staff and Amazing views! Recommend to anyone!
