Beautiful and historic Bowling is the west end of Forth & Clyde to river Clyde, and also midway if you cycling to Loch Lomond from City Centre. First time visited this location and wow its fantastic if your looking for place to enjoy a long use this as starting point. We walked from this location along to Erskine Bridge and back great range wildelife, old building and relaxing walk. Be great in summer looking forward to doing it again Makes great day out give try. Now some pics. Wonderful meeting of man-made and natural river with a set of amenities by the terminus basin. Pop out on the train for an easy excursion. Brilliant path, perfect for cycling or walking. Safe and tarmac so good for those unsteady on their feet. A mile away there are a few pubs, including Twisted Thistle. When I visited it was very peaceful and quiet and perfect for a moment of reflection. There's a coffee too which does a strong coffee! Really lovely and tranquil with great Pleasant area to cycle through or stop for a coffee as I did. There are a few shops and clean toilets too. ( the key for the toilets was in the cafe!). Great place to start(or finish!) a long cross country cycle ride! Brilliant place for a walk, lovely interesting of narrow boats and of the Clyde. Lovely Payton Place for lunch Gorgeous round today. Staying close by has beautiful definitely worth a visit A beautiful place to to take in the peace, to have a break at the lovely cafe, though we didn't get chance as it was a pit stop with doggies. We loved strolling along, listening to the water, looking at the and having 15 mins before the rest of our journey. There were shops and toilets too. Very clean and tidy. Great gem of a place. The place is lovely with a cycle and and staff are very friendly, the walks can be long or short depending on what you want but well worth the look if you have never been before like me since it was all renewed. A wonderful lunch at Patton's Place, very tasty and the price was ok, freshly made, staff pleasant, can't ask for more. Fajne miejsce żeby zrelaksować się widokami i przyrodą ale trzeba pamiętać że o godzinie 17 jest zamykany Bowling Basin . Nie każdy o tym wie ale chodzi pan i informuje pół godziny wcześniej . Certainly worth a visit, we'll laid out and clean harbour, pleasant walks along the towpaths in either direction, wee on site. Some of the barges are residential, with a lot of effort made in maintaining them, resulting in some colourful vessels. Wee round the basin. Lots of small and bigger boats. There’s cycle and a cafe… Payton’s Place. I had a delicious cheese toasty and a cappuccino. Parking area which is a bit rough but just drive slow. Was here today for 1st time, very peaceful & beautiful scenery Lovely harbour. Only been refurbished in 2021 making it a straight through path from whatever direction you’re heading (Clydebank or Dumbarton). You access it by car, cycle, foot. Local train station only 1/4 mile away. There’s signs all over now telling you different parts of history. One wall takes you from 1763 when plans were being designed for the up to the refurbishment that finished in 2021. There’s a for a wee bite to eat and the from both ways on the Clyde are stunning. Such a beautiful place. The is amazing the food is delicious. The gift is classy and has an amazing varied choice of gifts. And the flower is so so good. Well worth a visit. Had a wee visit today lovely wee place, Got a we coffee ☕️ and 3 others they really 😀 if you like exploring it Is a great wee place to visit 👍 Great place to chill and spend a day watching over the river. So many beautiful elements and the fact that it is reachable via the Forth and Clyde makes it more appealing. We usually bicycle there as a family and find a wee cosy corner to sit and enjoy a meal and relax. Great wee place for a around and a bite to eat Great for a wander. Walked down the wee path to see the old boats at low tide.
