Really enjoyed stopping by today - completely changed my perspective on wind farms - learnt so much I'd never considered before - thanks to our wonderful tour guide Stewart! Cake & sandwiches from the cafe were fantastic too! Wonderful landscape for a long walk. Very flat so great for those who enjoy walking but not up hills!!!! Not surprisingly it is extremely windy so wrap up warm. Well stocked cafe for a snack, drink or lunch. Plenty of parking too. This place is huge! Upon entering the site there are boxes where you can pick up a map. I didn't enter the visitor centre but took the dogs for a walk out to the viewpoint. It's beautiful! Definitely worth a visit. It also seems to be quite popular for cyclists. There is a good sized car park as well as an overflow car park. Free entry. Great place, very interesting with interactive exhibits which are great for the kids to play with. Coffee and cakes were excellent. Young Rebecca who served us couldn't have been more polite or welcoming. Nice lovely place to walk around too. Had a lovely day here with a friend. Walked to the viewpoint and back. Wonderful environment, lots of wildlife, plenty of room on paths to pass other walkers with dogs etc, swallows everywhere, wild orchids, wonderful grasses and rushes NO bracken(hurrah). Quite other worldly among the turbines which are oddly quiet. Only downside is you need a car to get there. Unless you're a cyclist. Would be great if there were a couple of buses a day even from Eaglesham or Busby connecting with other services. Very nice friendly staff and good cafe. Can't wait to return! “Spent a few hours at Whitelee Windfarm today. Walked the trails and saw the turbines up close. Their café is a nice spot to have a tea and relax. The open space, fresh air, and views make it a great place to unwind and enjoy being outside.” A very fascinating place to visit. Maybe 30 miles of wide paths for walking or cycling. One elevated spot 8m away has great scenic views.
