Half of the is renovated (in 2012), rest is deteriorating and in bad condition. In castle’s courtyard is summer stage where plays and concerts take place. All in all, beautiful building with lot of details from outside. One hour drive away from Bratislava and one hour drive from border with Hungary (Komorom). The place is located in the Eszterhazy castle, which is undergoing complete reconstruction. Although this is not yet complete, but already magnificent. The park is nice for a stroll. I chose the poppy seeded vegan cake, which was very tasty. The mint tea had some herbal tea after taste, not sure what it was mixed with. I recently toured the Neo-Gothic Esterházy Chateau in Galanta, and it left quite an impression. Nestled in a vast green park full of mature trees and historic charm, the chateau delivers a romantic, almost fairytale ambiance. Architecturally, the building is a striking blend of history and imagination. Its origins date back to 1633, when brothers Daniel and Pavol Esterházy built a Renaissance fortress on this site. Over the centuries, it was rebuilt in Baroque style under Bishop Imrich (1736), and finally given its present Neo-Gothic form around 1861 under Count József Esterházy — a bold romantic reinterpretation in the “English Gothic / Tudor” spirit. Walking through, you’ll see beautiful vaulted rooms, ornamental details, towers, and staircases that speak of bygone grandeur. The restored northern tower (completed end of 2021) is particularly worth seeing — it houses exhibits that trace Galanta’s history through time. The southern tower is also under partial renovation and holds museum spaces. However — and this is important — the chateau is not yet fully restored. Some wings, façades, and interior parts still await serious rehabilitation. The ambition is big: plans include restoring the façade, modernizing infrastructure (lighting, sanitary, etc.), creating educational trails about the Esterházy legacy, and reviving the chateau’s internal grandeur. Despite the ongoing work, the place is absolutely worth a visit. Even its “unfinished” sections tell a story of resilience and vision. As you wander the park, enter rooms with exposed beams or weathered walls, and gaze up at the towers reaching skyward, you’ll feel the weight of centuries and the promise of what’s to come. If you love history, architecture, or just atmospheric places, this chateau is a gem in the making. Nice place to see,the needs a preservetion and renovation,all in all I recommend it. One of the most elaborate neo-gothic built by Esterhazy family in 1633. Only a small section of the non-renovated neo-Gothic manor is currently accessible to the public. Needless to say it’s worth visiting the renovated section. However this part of the is as beautiful and historic. Not much to see here at the moment as under construction, but the park around is a lovely place to go for a walk & relax. There is a cafe& winery as well on site ice cream truck in the summer too.
