We have learned that the total length of the tunnels are around 500 kilometers, but of course you won't be able to see all of them during the guided which takes 1 hour 30 minutes. Definitely one of the must go places. We went there as a day trip from Innsbruck. Riding the mining train was so much a fun way to go into the mine. The was also very nice and explained everything very clearly. We were allowed to ask questions and listening to the back story of the mine inside the mine is a really fun way to learn about it’s history and the history of Schwaz. But make sure to arrive early, as we were late for 5 minutes and we have to wait for another an hour later. Luckily there were some openings in the next hour. It was a big deception. We went for a in English and nothing justifies the price of the visit. First, the waiting time. We were asked to come at a specific time for beginning the tour. After 30 minutes delay, we were finally at the entrance of the mine. Then again we had to wait a few minutes (in reality 20-30 more minutes) before seating in the train. Secondly, the English level of the was not good enough to hold a visit. All visitors were looking at each other when the was talking, trying to see if someone was catching something. It was a mix of German and English barely understandable. If the English spoken by the is at this level, it is better to remove the English and ask people to get the audio guide. Thirdly, the speed of the visit. This mine is a big commercial factory where the visitors have to be done with the as fast as possible. They were literally no time for asking questions (the would have probably struggle to understand them), no time for getting additional information. You are just running through the galleries where you see some objects and information signs, without the possibility to stop because you are rush to another room. The mine in itself is nice and well preserved, the train is also an highlight of the but that’s it. We had specifically asked for an English and even downloaded the app, but our was very disappointing. The was awful and didn't speak any English at all, apart from the safety instructions. I strongly recommend that you avoid this attraction A visit with my Austrian husband, his local brother and sister in law and 3 grown up, non German speaking kids. A great experience. The mines were nice, but you need to install an app to translate from German. If you have no battery, or data you won’t understand much (the did zero effort). Also, installing the app doesn’t automatically get your audio for that place, but to nearby museums very interesting ! but not so easy to climb up and down the staircases inside for an older guy. you get a helmet, very useful, I hit my helmet on the very low ceilings.
