Little explanations but you can imagine how it would have looked all those years ago A stunning and so well preserved, it has good parking and the grounds were well kept and tidy, there is loads to explore and the interior is large. I truly enjoyed my visit you will too, cheers Nice place to visit Nice place. So glad we stopped here in our way to Killarney. A photographer’s dream. Well preserved on the outskirts of Ennis. We stopped in the explore just as the sun had set. A former Augustinian monastery given away by the English king Henry the eighth to a couple of his supporters. You can read about it on Wikipedia under Clare abbey. Nice place of self tour with many historical pieces to see. Not a large place, but easily spend an hour there. Historic , mystical place . And walking around the courtyard I could imagine the friary monks praying and walking along the courtyard . Beautiful views as you look out the arch windows. You can see the beautiful shades and shadows shining through as you walk around the Abbey. It makes you feel like you're at peace with yourself Great place to visit, easy and walkable with parking right next to the ruins. Definitely one of the best historical structures we came across, both because of its size and it's history. Definitely look up it's history while you are here! Was able to park right next to it and walk in. No one else was there when we went in April. We spent around 30 minutes here. Looks interesting from a distance but we didn’t have time on our trip to walk all the way. Do not attempt to take your car up to the abbey, access is on foot only. The road is incredibly narrow with little opportunity to pass or turn around and no warning signs. Some people had parked on road side but as this is marked with dashed yellow lines it is not encouraged. It is a shame there isn’t more information to help people visit such a beautiful place. Nice historic landmark in the middle of the field 😊 Majestic. You'll find new tombs inside, which is pretty interesting and intrigue. Worth see it. You can't visit it but you see it from the Fergus River Path. But there is no shelter from Sun or Rain. And you can't see the river from the Path. The memorial (Clare Abbey) is open at any time. Such beauty.. stonework 💕 Very good size ruins with a good amount of room to walk around in. Have to be respectful and careful of the graves here, but it's very peaceful. Also, if there are other people here, you need to park on the two lane road before the road because there is little parking and a narrow one way road to the actual itself. "Honestly, it’s a quiet and beautiful place." Great place for a walk with a dog, lovely views. Easy to find following the Google Maps!
