Cratloe Wood Forest Park

Limerick, Ireland Park

Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. Cratloe Wood ambience parking space, free of cost, best option for the trekkies, gets its name from the Irish for 'Land of Sallow Trees'. Beside the small village of Cratloe are the Cratloe forests, which were originally primeval oak woods. In the ninth century this was a Mc Namara territory and was invaded by warriors from the Kingdom of Aileach in Ulster. These men took wood from Cratloe to build the roof of the royal palace of Aileach in Ulster. Needs more signage but over very walkable. With lots of trails. Lovely place that has a small play area and a walking way under the woods. There is a small beach nearby. Great surprise. Didn't know about this place and now i think is my favourite place for gravel riding. Perfect for mild hikes, long walks and runs. Beautiful views of river Shannon and limerick city from an altitude. Very peaceful and picturesque. As usual some nuisance by some of the lousy dog owners not keeping dogs on lead . A great family friendly park, and hiking. Plenty of parking spaces. Easy trail to walk. Good for kids, sandbox, slides, great place for kids physical activity, sensory stimulation for those who has special needs. Just a little disappointed with the litter people left around, and dog's poop on the trail. Litter bins would ne really appreciated. Really nice and extensive forest walks. Some paths suitable for buggy as well. Great for dog walking. Little lake, if you're lucky there's even ducks.. Beautiful woodland walk with lake. Stunning views at the top. Definitely recommend for little adventurers. Pack a lunch, feed the ducks and stop off at the that is crafted from wood to blend into the natural environment. Great day out. beautiful place to relax, easy access, large parking lot, wooden for children We love to go there. Kids love the playground, I love the lake) Lovely wooded area with a view of the lake not far from Limerick. Near the lake, you can sit at some benches and have a picnic or just relax watching some wildlife. Nice walks and trails, as well as a near entrance.
