We visited recently and had a mixed experience. William was incredibly knowledgeable about the and cakes perhaps a bit too enthusiastic at times but there’s no doubt he’s excellent at what he does. It can get a little awkward when there’s a queue, though, as the detailed descriptions slow things down. The was just okay I’ve definitely had better from some of the more well-known chains. As for the desserts, the lemon cake was a generous portion, but the strong coconut flavour might not be for everyone. The fudge was tasty but felt a bit small for the price. It’s nice that they offer wine, though it’s definitely on the more expensive side. Overall, we paid €26 for two coffees and two desserts, which felt a bit steep for what we got. A lovely spot in many ways, but the pricing and some of the flavours didn’t quite hit the mark for us. The pretentious vibe is definitely at a 100….. Would I return, unfortunately not. One of the best shops I’ve found in Ireland! A great selection of beans and a team who know their . A great space to relax in and I really enjoy the adults-only environment, even as a mother myself. Definitely worth making it a destination stop if you’re crossing the country on holidays . A Must-Try Haven at The Old Barracks Roastery Nestled in the charming village of Birdhill, Co. Tipperary, The Old Barracks Roastery is a gem that every enthusiast must experience. Housed in a beautifully restored 300-year-old building, this artisan roastery and café offers an unforgettable blend of exceptional coffee, stunning views, and a warm, inviting ambience that makes it a standout destination. From the moment you step inside, the rich aroma of freshly roasted beans envelops you, setting the stage for a remarkable journey. The Old Barracks boasts an impressive selection of single-origin coffees, including Brazilian, Indian, and Colombian varieties, each with distinct flavor profiles that cater to every palate. The Brazilian beans, with their smooth, nutty notes, were a personal favorite, while the vibrant, fruity Colombian and the bold, spicy Indian options were equally delightful. The knowledgeable baristas elevate the experience, guiding you through the menu with passion and expertise, ensuring you find the perfect brew. Their use of Europe’s first Modbar espresso equipment adds a theatrical flair, making each cup a work of art. The ambience is nothing short of enchanting. The cozy, bespoke interiors blend rustic charm with modern touches, creating a relaxing vibe. The glass conservatory offers breathtaking views of the River Shannon and Mount Moylussa, making it an ideal spot to savor your while soaking in the scenery. The outdoor seating area, complete with dog-friendly amenities, adds to the welcoming atmosphere. With delectable, gluten-free cakes and a vibrant community vibe, The Old Barracks is more than a café—it’s a must-try destination for lovers seeking quality, character, and a memorable experience. visited Dec 2024. quiet, beautiful place with friendly knowledgeable experts on site. they run it like it is a whiskey, wine or cigar bar. no kids. get over it. without all those invalid 1-star reviews, this place is a solid 5+. like a good whiskey, great is not cheap. we will return Dec 2025. (Philip in Connecticut.) Went there on a Saturday morning. It was pretty quite and a sunny morning. They have a variety of beans imported form all around the world so it's great for all the lovers out there. The view from the cafe is beautiful. Its perfect if you want to enjoy a cup of with a nice way. We ordered a hot chocolate too. It was very creamy and chocolately. This is my next best hot chocolate after butlers. Will definitely recommend. Heard great things about the old barracks, having worked in the and hospitality industry for 20+ years I was super excited to visit…how disappointing it was! I saw past the obnoxious and cold welcome - thinking the and pastry would be delicious…it was not. The was average at best and the cakes ice cold and stale out of the fridge. They have an adults only policy, which is fine but let your customers know that in a polite way…they made us feel awful for being in there with our newborn (fast asleep in his carrier) and made our coffees in take away cups, we weren’t even welcome in their gardens so had our overpriced and average in the car. Ridiculous. It's expensive but its phenomenal treat yourself you deserve it 🤣 Friendly staff, beautiful place, loving the open space with big windows all around offering an amazing view on the outside. Quality of products on point, not the cheapest shop just to let you know Fantastic cafe! Place worth visiting , even if it means going slightly " off track". Wide variety of grounded coffees, with good choice of cakes - my favourite baked cheesecake was in a menu 🙂 Really nice staff, and relaxing view . P.s.Town is definatelly called Birdshill for a reason 😉 My partner I visited a couple of weeks ago and we are so glad we did. The staff are amazing and really take their time to show you all the different varieties along with taste and smell. The was delicious and the milk was steamed to perfection I cannot count how many times I received a only to have the milk piping hot.. This certainly was not the case here. The was smooth literally liquid gold and came with a little card of tasting notes . There is lots of options on a sliding scale some may call it expensive? but not a lot of businesses roast in house and source their beans ethically either so Kudos to Old Barracks. The sweet treats were delicious. Overall a wonderful chilled space to chat and have a coffee. If you are planning to visit note it is child free. We will be back. Amazing coffee. Always enjoy visiting here. I'm not even a drinker myself but my husband enjoys it very much. The carrot cake is fantastic! Some very petty people here giving 1 star just cause they don't like the adults only policy. Literally every single establishment nearby welcomes children - I think it's really nice to have a space that's adults only. Love the adult only policy! Great and cakes!
