Odată cu dezvoltarea industriei din zona Miskolc-Lillafüred, în secolul al XVIII-lea, autoritățile au decis construirea unui baraj, creând astfel lacul artificial pentru a asigura o sursă constantă de apă. Timpul a trecut, iar Lacul Hámori a devenit mai mult decât un rezervor tehnic – s-a transformat într-un loc de refugiu pentru oameni, un colț de natură care atrage vizitatori cu luciul său liniștit și reflexiile copacilor de pe maluri. Azi, lacul este locul ideal pentru plimbări cu barca, drumeții sau pur și simplu contemplarea liniștii. Astfel, dintr-o necesitate practică, Lacul Hámori a devenit un simbol al echilibrului dintre om și natură, povestind în tăcere istoria unei regiuni care a știut să îmbine utilul cu frumosul. To be honest, I had more expectations from the place, so I was slightly disappointed when I arrived in a mild fall-winter day. The reason wasn't the season, but the lake: it's very small. I was expecting it to be bigger, based on the google photos. You can literally walk around it in most an hour. Also, one side of the is paved road, without walkways for pedestrians, so that makes the most-one-hour walk half as fun. Regardless, the can still be beautiful, and the the surrounding town has a real cute vibe to it, with sightseeing opportunities and a few smaller waterfalls to compensate for the lake.
