The of Saint Nicholas is on a plain just outside Nin, on a hillock or mound which is actually a prehistoric tomb. It is perfectly preserved, being one of the most significant sites in medieval Croatia and overall Croatian history. It has been dated to late 11th or early 12th century, being an example of pre-Romanesque architecture. It's importance is that here the coronation of Croatian kings took place, according to a traditional ritual. There is a big lot for cars and buses, a small info-panel and a wooden path that leads to the Church. The is, unfortunately, closed but I guess this is due to possible vandalism. It would be great to see it's interior... The surroundings could be a bit more maintained. Very calm nice place. Problem to go to if you go from Zadar. Not allow to cross 2 lines to the parking. is closed but very nice location. Visited St Nicholas (Sveti Nikola) in Nin with the family and really enjoyed it. There’s a great boardwalk that leads you right up to the little stone church, and we timed it perfectly with sunset — the views were stunning. It’s small but full of charm and history, sitting up on a little hill that gives you a great view of the area. There was plenty of nearby, so it was easy to get to. A peaceful spot that’s perfect for a short visit, especially if you’re already exploring Nin. Definitely worth the stop! The of St. Nicholas is a pre-Romanesque built at the end of the 11th century. It is located on the Prahulje field between Nin and Zaton. It is extremely important for the rulers of the Croatian dynasty and for the history of the ancient city of Nin The only preserved example of the early Romanesque architecture in Dalmatia. It was built in XI-XII century. Beautiful little around 900 years old. It is located near the main road from Vir to Nin. By the road and near the there is big lot, so is not the problem. Near the lot there is tablet with some information about the church. By the tablet there is path few hundred metres long that leads to the church. The is located on the hill that seems to be ancient burial ground. The walls of the are made of stone blocks and are pretty high. On top of the there is turret that was built additionally in 16th century to fortify the church. This is important part of Croatian history because first Croatian kings were crowned in it. Unfortunately in time of my visit the doors were locked so there was no opportunity to visit from the inside. If you have “The smallest cathedral in world” on your bucket list, then this is not to be missed. The sits pretty on a little hill just outside Nin. As it is small it is quickly seen, but afterwards there only a short walk into the town of Nin. Wasn’t open, I extra took a walk 30min through the sun and on maps it says „always open“ idk how people can give more then 3 stars.
