Cheap last minute booking, had everything we needed and were comfortable. They don't do anymore (which we weren't made aware of, so website/online details need updating and guests need informing when booking. Having gone from visiting this establishment nearly every Friday. We lost interest in the place and the last few manager . So having heard it was under new management, we decided to see if we could restastablish our love for the place. So first impressions, as we entered through the back door from the car park. We looked into the restaurant to see all the tables empty, some still to be cleared and reset. A number that had been cleared and reset, but still cover in crumbs. We went for food, we did not stay. In rooms. Isobell was a waitress, very warm and professional. Husband had tikka masala, omg the was amazing , hubby is a curry expert and said it was mildly spiced but was the best he has had. I tasted it and it was so creamy and rich, mild spices but gorgeous, def more like a fantastic spicy stroganoff, the was very tender, and it was a large portion. My mince and dumplings was also, but the star was the masala sauce.. When I went to pay the chef was at the bar and I told him the was gorgeous, I asked if he has put paprika in, he said yes, I said and he should call it a spicy Balti stroganoff, haha, as it was so tasty.. We would def come back Lovely staff, Lovely food Large portions Average prices . Def coming back for more of the Balti Stroganoff hahaha Booked mothers day lunch for 2pm. Turned up at 2pm, got told our booking was for 2.30pm, showed them the message confirming 2pm by them... No apologies, told to go sit on some sofas. We thought okay no big issue hopefully they are trying to sort it. The waitress then came over to us 10 minutes later stating "we have a table but you can only have it for an hour"..so not sure what happened to our booking? and still no apology for their mistake, and even worse, giving us more issues. We took the table as we were trying to make the best out of a crappy situation, but really wish we'd just walked out. The Sunday roast was at best a 3/10 for quality (I left 60% of my meal) and the service 1/10. Definitely not fresh veg, beef looked like tough leather, vegetable bake was just broccoli with mash & cheese on top. Burnt and flat yorkshires, all topped off by poor service. So, as you can imagine, we would definitely not recommend this place or come again. Had our dinner here. We used to go regularly years ago. I was so pleased to find that the meals are as excellent as they always were. Two of us had fish and chips, two of us went for the parmo. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. My fish and were just perfect. Light, crispy batter on fresh fish. The parmos were massive and I'm told, delicious. And the chips.... Nobody does that even come close. These are the best chips. Meals aside, staff were lovely, venue is nice, plenty of parking round the back. That's one to watch out for because if you drive there only to find the four or so parking spaces out front are all occupied, don't just drive on. The rear carpark is huge, accessed down the side of the pub. Was working in the area and needed a affordable hotel for the night. Was really good value for money. The in the morning was and the service was polite and swift. The bed was comfortable. All in all for the price would highly recommend if you need a room for a or 2 First time eating here and definitely the last. Ordered steak medium to well done and was full of blood. were greasy mush. Heard the table next to us complaining to each other as well. Staff were wonderful though. I went here with my husband and son ,we had never been to the place before and we will definitely be going back. It is a place ,clean ,spacious and staff . The food was apart from the carrots were hard but some people like them like that, my husband and son enjoyed their parmos, and best of all everything was home made not a frozen chip in sight but homemade chips, yummy . Never again. Disappointed with my experience there. Went with my family for a meal, but the types of customers who later came in made it feel like a clubhouse for loud, bullish thugs. Prices weren't bad though. Recommended for all occasions, I book my son 18th birthday meal, when we arrived we where shown our table which was set up and ordered our drinks. Shortly after we ordered our meal. When the food arrived it was absolutely beautiful, there was 10 of us so we thought it would take a while, the service was quick and the meals where beautiful and hot. I would recommend anyone to visit and you won't be disappointed, all I have to say now is thank you for having us and we will see you very soon. We booked to stay from Sunday 18th May until 21st May 25 , on Monday 19th May we checked out early and reasons why , the bed mattress was horrendously uncomfortable and during the we heard what can be described as bathroom extractor noise which went on and off all so had virtually no sleep at all and then we went down for and waited 35 minutes for a which wasn't and we couldn't eat , I did complain and asked for a refund or even a gesture refund (partial) but unfortunately wont be happening, my interaction with the management by message on booking.com wasn't customer friendly and tried to rubbish my complaint about the extractor noise and the because my wife was polite and didn't like confrontation we didn't complain about the at the time , but why would I leave after one after paying over £157 and £18 for two breakfasts , we have now booked into the premier inn by James Cook hospital out of pocket and very disappointed , with our experience at the Half Moon Lazenby. Mr Dawson. WORLDS WORST PARMO !!! Would have rated it ZERO if I could. Burnt bread crumbs. 3mm thin overcooked dry stringy ,1 inch thick tasteless bechemel which was crumbly in texture like it hadn't been mixed properly with the flour and 1 mm thick anaemic tasteless cheese . Would have sent it back if we hadn't waited an hour for it to arrive so just wanted to get out of there. Disgraceful. NEVER AGAIN. place, gorgeous food, staff very welcoming and helpful Food was absolutely amazing! And service was just as good. Such a atmosphere also so affordable. Will 100% be coming back Best Parmo i have ever had, i had rump steak parmo, it was outrageously good! One of the tastiest steaks ive also ate. Staff are and the pub is and clean. The Half Moon in Lazenby. I'll have to go 9.5 out of 10 as no doubt someone will find fault but honestly it was unreal. Chicken was spot on but I always feel it's the cheese & bech ratio that makes a parmo and I cannot fault it. I asked for a Hot shot as my nephew did and it was great We got the usual toppings as you'd expect and fresh but the small dashes of sweet chilli really added to the parmo which was a great addition and took my surprise Service was fantastic and there is also midweek offers on different nights It was a midweek treat and my little girl enjoyed the kids external play area Well worth a shout the food was absolutely GORGEOUS. definitely 10/10. Isabelle was an amazing waitress and she had manners. The food was cooked perfectly and came exactly how i like it. I would recommend it here for anyone as there are lots of different food choices and they also cater for large groups of people e.g. there as a table of 11 and 17 whilst i was at the pub. Thank you so much to Isabelle, Rhys Best parmos I’ve had and been to a lot of places, portion size was massive done to perfection. Staff were really friendly. Definitely will be returning Waited over an hour for food even though it wasn't busy when we ordered, food came... Ordered butter curry and rice. Mine came with no just small amounts of curry sauce, with rice, 1poppadom and a small piece of naan bread.. my family have eaten and I'm sat waiting for another curry. We sat and waited in bar area, to no cutlery and we needed to ask for as none was offered to us. We were a party of 14 for a 70th birthday. The food was gorgeous.the parmo was enormous but the best...as were the chips. Had to wait a while but the staff were rushed off their feet. We had a great and wouldn't hesitate to recommend or go back.
