Popped in on a Sunday lunchtime for a drink and a snack. Pub was busy with lots of lunch reservations. The upsets had sofas and board games. Very comfortable. Pub has recently been refurbished. A git quirky. Modern, clean and comfortable. Snake we had was great, good drinks. Other food looked great, clearly a popular place to eat. My wife and I had Sunday Lunch here today, what can I say........ The Food was Exceptional, the service was Great . It was our first visit but we will definitely be back. Got to be the Best Sunday Lunch I've Ever had 10/10 👍🏻 Fine food and ales with a friendly and welcoming approach. Very cosy and very welcoming. Go and see for yourself. Food was incredible, and when the chef found out one of our party was coeliac he came out and spoke to her and created a meal specifically for her which was lovely. But then we later ordered a dessert that was marked as gluten free on the menu, and after it had arrived and been started, we double checked that the item was in fact gluten free, and the waitress went and checked with the kitchen and came back and said no, they’ve just changed the menu and that gluten free icon was left in accidentally and it did in fact have gluten. She hadn’t had the cake part of the dessert yet which was very lucky, but it could have been bad and the staff were not apologetic and still charged us for the dessert. I hope the menu is fixed to reflect the right allergens! Big thanks to the chef for his efforts. Excellent Sunday roast lunch, every course was a delight. Competitively priced, very good value.Service was a little slow, but we put that down to a full house and never ending streams of hikers coming through the door gasping for a drink! Phoned ahead and reserved a car park stopover, they provided plenty of space in the car park to fit our 12m skoolie, we had great food, a couple of drinks all with a very friendly welcoming host and locals ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Stag Inn is an absolute gem! From the moment we stepped in, we were embraced by a warm and welcoming atmosphere that beautifully balances modern charm with rustic coziness. The décor is thoughtfully done, creating a space that feels both inviting and unique. The food was nothing short of incredible—every dish felt like it was made with real care and attention to detail. It’s been a long time since a meal left me so impressed. The staff were so friendly and attentive, making us feel right at home. It’s the kind of place you want to linger in, whether you’re there for a meal or just stopping by for a drink. I’ll definitely be back—it’s rare to find somewhere that gets everything so right. Lovely old traditional pub with excellent choice of ales and delicious food. Excellent friendly bar staff that work very hard. Great meeting place with a wonderful atmosphere. Good beer, good food, very friendly staff. We had excellent evening here on our Hadrian's Wall hike. Cheers to the staff. I highly recommend this inn. An amazing place to eat, an experience you can’t miss. Lovely stamp on the decor with the colours and perfect way of bringing out the character in the building. The service was very good and warm, it will make you feel right at home. The food!!!! B E A utiful, now this is a place you’d be proud to recommend to everyone and at trust me it will not disappoint. It made me go home put my pjs on and want to fall asleep, this is just what you want from a Sunday lunch. Side note, they do take walk ins but I’d highly recommend booking as it is busy so this will avoid disappointment. Don’t walk …. RUN tourists from Norway😄we have been going for 3 hours and it was fully booked, but they were so kind to give us a lovely meal. I cook myself and I must say everything was made with care and love! thank you very much for the experience😄 Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
