Decent "pub grub" food - well priced and portions. Decent beer and service. Nice stopoff on the walk. Just had lunch at Greyhound Inn and can't praise the experience enough, all the staff were very and attentive, the food arrived in a timely manner and was piping hot, very generous with the portions and well cooked. The Greyhound Inn is well decorated, has a well stocked bar and a selection of meals on the menu and is very well priced - it also has a warm village ambience about it, and the owners are working extremely hard to make it a "must go to place" - we will definitely be returning in the very near future, keep up the work 🍻👍 I've popped in a number of times over the past couple of years while walking. The manager, Derek, is and is always for conversation. He is very knowledgeable about the brewery industry and the pubs in the district. Locals at the bar are chatty too. The wall-walkers tend to be too preoccupied to interact very much. There's a selection of beers, usually 2-3 hand drawn pumps. They are reasonably priced for a village pub and they are always poured 'clean'. I've never eaten the food but have heard from others that it is grub. Beautiful food, nice clean and tidy pub and the manager (Derek ?) was very friendly. 5 of us ate here tonight, each had a different meal and we all thoroughly enjoyed them. Decent portion size and value- we may go back tomorrow night. Very doggy and nice beer garden. This pub is lovely. The food is homemade and plentiful. The menu isn't extensive but what they do, they do extremely well. Customers and staff were really and welcoming. Great place for a beer and a bar meal. Very reasonable prices. Lovely pub food. You can even get a meal here on a Monday which is not the norm in our area. Gorgeous proper local ham and eggs and best apple crumble swimming in custard. Dogs welcome and so were the regulars Great spot if walking Hadrians Wall. Perfectly positioned for a bite of lunch regardless of direction of travel. Had a lovely egg mayo oven bottom (sorry no picture - too to wait) My daughter and I had lunch at The Greyhound today and it was excellent. The staff were lovely, the food was delicious and we were made to feel so welcome. We both had the roast beef which was so tender you didn't need to cut it. It was served with the best mash I've ever tasted along with four different vegetables, roasties and a great big Yorkshire pudding with a boat of homemade gravy. We shared an apple crumble with lashings of custard which was naughty but very nice! Highly recommended and we will definitely be back. Thank you xx We stopped for a late lunch at the Greyhound Inn on our first day on the Hadrian’s Walk Trail. We all had hamburgers and chips (fries), and they were delicious. The pub is to walkers and locals. There is comfortable seating both inside and out, and we appreciated the clean restrooms.
