Fabulous puppet theatre with a magical production. Cafe is nice but no kids menu and difficult to find something for a picky 9 year old & portuon & price a bit big/steep for what they ate. Would prob just get drink & pud/cake ( the sticky toffee was amazing) and have meal before or after elsewhere. Will definitely return for another performance of the puppets all ages would enjoy. We went to the puppet - ‘The Emperor and The Nightingale’ - our party ranged from. My G’ma who is 99 down through to our youngest daughter who is almost 1. And everyone had a blast! The puppet are all hand made and demonstrate incredible craftsmanship and the staff and vibe of the venue are really welcoming. The gentleman who ran the even let our children spend time seeing the puppets at the end and seeing how it all works - a real treat. I would highly recommend going to a show. They serve lovely food and Lakes ice cream too! What a wonderful afternoon we've had watching The Emperor and The Nightingale!! Such a fun experience for us all, especially my 6 and 9 year old who were completely enthralled by every bit. We've been before and we'll definitely go back. What an amazing place! Staff were wonderdul and very helpful. The food was delicious- vegetarian twists on classice dishes. Beautiful sweet potato ratatouille, halloumi flat bread wrap, and mushroom lasagne. The rhubarb crumble is certainly worth writing home about. We will be back to this hidden gem. Thank you. I have just had my favourite cooked breakfast... Again! £11. Its so good. I am not veggie but it hits the spot. Especially the hash brown and decent sausages Highly Recommended Family Entertainment! We had a truly delightful experience at Up Front Theatre watching The Emperor and the Nightingale. The puppet was beautifully crafted, engaging, and full of charm—perfect for audiences of all ages. The storytelling was captivating, the puppetry was impressive, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. It’s a fantastic outing for families looking for something special and memorable. The theatre’s café is also a hidden gem, serving delicious food and drinks that perfectly complement the experience. Whether you're local or visiting, this is a must-see that combines culture, creativity, and comfort in one magical package. Don’t miss it! Fantastic as always. We visited today for lunch as it was my granny’s birthday treat, the staff were so friendly and adaptive to my allergies, they went above and beyond, nothing was too much for them. We then went on to watch the puppet and everyone loved it. The detail that goes into all the puppets outfits and stage is amazing. We will be back!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Just had a really lovely evening at upfront. Never been to one of thier evening events before. Wonderful vibe, fabulous vegetarian food and amazing live music. A thoroughly enjoyable evening. We will be back.
