Busy pub and since i only took bus here and camping at a bit far, so that before going there for 3night camping i did a better dinner here. Lamb was very tasty and service ok. But reservation seem must that i walked in and early(5pm) for dinner so that ok. After that almost full. Nice pub here. Lovely traditional pub in the middle of Honister Pass in the Lake District. Opened originally in 1624, the building shows its age in a charming and traditional way. The food on offer is excellent, the staff are and accommodating, good choice of beers available. Only drawback is they don't have their own car park, you have to pay to park in the Seatoller National Trust car park over the road. On a very rainy June Friday we popped in for a dinner. We made a reservation online and it all worked really well. The menu is good pub food with vegetarian options. I had the shepherd's pie which had lumps of the most beautiful local lamb and roasted veg. The mushroom risotto was piping hot and had a beautiful flavour. The pub was and provided shelter to campers locally who came in to get dry. Parking is in the nearby NT carpark which is a 1 min walk. Best ever cheese souffle and humus platter! The sausages were proper home made ones and love the smoothness of the mash. Happy to visit multiple times as it's completely worth every penny. Perfect location, staff and lovely inside and outside seating arrangments. The humus sharing platter is adequate for 4! The food at the Yew Tree is fantastic. There’s plenty of tables inside and out, it’s dog with warm and welcoming staff. We parked at the national trust car park just across the road. Let me start with a heads up: the menu posted on here doesn’t tell you that on Sundays they only serve roast dinners! But any disappointment was washed away by an absolutely gorgeous meal - for vegetarians they serve a veggie & lentil haggis (hidden here under the Yorkshire pudding along with the carrots, parsnip, roast potatoes and pickled cabbage) & my wife had the pork belly which she said was amazing! For dessert I had the brioche bread n butter pudding which was also delicious. The staff were all lovely & very and the scenery of course is awesome. Very tasty food! Hummus starter was lovely and smooth with fresh olive bread. Had 1 seabass main and one vegetarian gnocci, both cooked and seasoned very well. Nice atmosphere, Would definitley recommend! Amazing. One of the best meals out we have ever had in lovely surroundings. Fantastic food, my husband said the burger was the best he has ever had in a restaurant, the steak pie was delicious and the dessert was top class. The staff were a plus too.
