Nice new car and café. Was closed today, but everything looks clean and tidy. Court yard picnic benches and some under cover. All toilets & baby changing facilities available. Opposite side of the road is picnic area amongst the wildlife, & a leading down to New Polzeath. Stunning of the sea. A National Trust site for visiting the SW coast and enjoying the beautiful views. A big car park, toilet block and a catering station with my favourite curried cauliflower pasties (other foods also available). The walks are circular a variety of distances but all enjoy the coastline and wonderful vistas. The variety of flora and fauna is amazing too. I'd add lots of time on to the suggested walking time for the stopping and ooing and drinking it in moments. Just consider if the National Trust wasn't looking after our coastline this could be a static caravan site or worse. 😀 Join today and protect our spaces. As we are national trust members,we didn't realise this car was here until someone told us about it. We normally pay to in new Polzeath long stay carpark but not anymore. Will definitely be using here from now on. Plenty of parking,cafe,toilets. Seemed very popular and it only took extra 15mins to down footpath through fields to reach the area we would normally ..the route we did was across the road from and the went to the left slightly then headed downwards towards new Polzeath. Not too steep as we came back this way aswell. There is a map on a board by that shows you routes you can do but on this occasion we were heading down to Polzeath beach and taking a across to the busier part where the surfing goes on. An amazing place with great and history. A must visit for nature lovers, photographers and hikers. I arrived at 9am this morning to a beautiful, large car with hardly anyone around and perfect weather. And the brand new cafe, seating area and toilets were a lovely suprise! There are carparks a little further uphill, nearer the coast but you only save yourself 5 minutes. The walks are well signposted and I found a map of the footpaths in the lead mines carpark. I enjoyed a simply stunning walk, with awe-inspiring over the sea and along the cliffs and the sheer abundance of wildflowers was just magical. Within 5 minutes of arrival, a kestral hovered right nearby and I also saw stonechats up close. As Coast walking goes, this was a pretty easy section, with the uphill climbs being shorter than expected. The inland route that cuts back towards the farm was delightful. Reccomend the short but steep climb up "the Rumps" for a great view. Finally, thank you to the national trust staff for their friendly welcome, dog treats for Jess, my hiking companion, and local knowledge. We hired the tramper (best to book in advance as they only have one) which allowed us to explore the area. Fantastic of typical north Cornwall coastline. Also access to the Cornwall costal path. Very nice too. Love this place 👍. Lovely even in the wind and rain, I was dry by the time we got back to the car park. Great few places were a little tricky but on the whole suitable for all capabilities Great place for a hike with very friendly National Trust staff! You can even borrow an off-road buggy for free to with a small child to the coast and enjoy the view. :) Beautiful views. Easy access to coast path. Clean facilities. Lovely place to go for scenery and walks. Stunning walk, some hill walking but not hard if you regularly. You can extend the to include a lunch stop in Polzeath. Beautiful out of season, i imagine it gets very busy in the holiday periods.
