Very family place, great hosts and the food is good although didn't rate the steak pie but everything else was perfect. The decor and lounge layout has been renewed and its looking really good. Happy to see this place open again and wish the new team all the success. Not a bad place however the bar lady did decide it's extremely neccessary to ring the last round bell extremely loud which really made the experience quite sour. Fully understand you need to make sure everyone hears it but hell it was a bit over the top. Excellent food (excellent veggie burger & skin-on fries), staff. I'm just not a fan of the sound of small kids on iPads without headphones. Nice place for locals to socialise. The food is awesome here, dirty steak fries and stick toffee pudding were unbelievably good! Really nice atmosphere to eat and drink. Just been recently refurbished and wasn't expecting much when we decided to head there. Arrived and hit the bar area, place looked great, bar staff very and helpful. Great setup for watching the football with a big TV. Restaurant area looks great as well, haven't sampled the food just yet but it's on the cards. There last Friday with 4 friends, first time but will certainly go back. Lovely hot food, we all had different meals, all were delicious, very reasonable prices and staff couldn't be more helpful. Was once awesome .... but gone down hill since I last reviewed 4 years ago We were really disappointed to find the restaurant closed on a Saturday, especially after some of our family traveled down from Dundee and walking over with our three kids. There was no notice on Facebook or Google indicating it would be shut, and we tried calling twice—no message on the answering machine either. Clearer communication would have made a big difference. If you’re looking for somewhere reliable, we’d recommend The Papermill, they were open and food was lovely. Great bar Just moved to the area and The polton is the new local. Had our first meal and cannot compliment the 2 young lads that were working that nice. Super and attentive. Dog friendly. I’ll defo be back. Ordered food and drinks. Drinks arrived quickly. When food arrived shortly afterwards it was piping hot , good portions and we'll presented. Good value for money. Hopefully, the lunch menu is available soon. Not very busy , so not much of an atmosphere. Was just passing, went in for a drink, good selection of lager and ciders and a great outside area. Food very fresh and piping hot unlike most places you go to now. Good selection of beers and wines. Very welcoming hosts. Good food although steak pie wasn't the best, short crust pastry which was quite hard however the filling was tasty enough. Very child friendly.
