I visited the on 13 July 2024. I asked practical questions about public transport, bus and metro tickets and coastal walks. The young was both nice and competent. They advised how and where to buy Barik card (very cheap indeed) and provided me with printed maps as well. My experience was very positive. Bilbao tourism has an impressive entrance, however the service doesn't match. Lots of brochures in Spanish, very little in English. We started waiting in queue however gave up as it didn't move in 10 minutes...surely they could have more than 2 desks operating in summer peak?! Great tourism with friendly and helpful staff. Was able to purchase a Barik card here which was quick and easy. Such a beautiful building and interior design, the is very nice and they truly want to help you during your stay in Bilbao. If you have any questions, don’t doubt to go there. They speak English and Spanish. There’s also phone charging stations inside for free (one euro, that’s returned after, if you want to lock your phone and leave it charging). This I formation centre has a large space, but there seems a limited range of leaflets and information on the local area. The main source a published information newspaper is only in Spanish. Could be better. Beautiful building and so helpful staff! They organise on Saturday and Sunday city walk tours at the Casco Viejo( old town) and Modern Bilbao. They cost €4.5 each but if you are staying more than one day in Bilbao go for the 48hrs(€15) or 72hrs(€20) BB card: you can use buses, tram, underground as many times you want and this two tours are included in the price. A single ticket with the tram is €1.50 and it is valid just for one hour so it is quite worth it. The tours are really interesting and I personally high recommend to attend them both. The all is absolutely amazing, helpful and patient so ask them any questions you will have. 2 counters working, 2 people in the queue but 30 minutes!! to wait to buy a simple Bilbao pass - from the only place that sells them! It was so ridiculous, we ended up leaving, how many people before us did the same? We arrived & were given a ticket #89 in the queue. They were ´serving’ #79 at the time, only 2 other people had stuck around to be served, the rest had obviously given up as well. Given the wonderful positive experiences had from the rest of Bilbao - this was a surprising poor performance One of the beautiful information buildings. We took a token from the machine at the entrance. The lady at the desk spoke English and hence it was easier to communicate. She helped us with all our questions. Since it was New year week she gave us a document with all the local events happening. They had a little magazine with nearby places to Bilbao on the bus or train. Multiple routes for a day trip. It was very informative. On 1st Jan, restaurants were very hard to find. Even though on Google Maps it said open, it wasn't. A collective information of actual open restaurants (at least in the city center) on 31st Dec and 1st Jan (particularly on public holidays) would be helpful. The was very nice and welcoming, we asked for recommendations of stuff to do in and around Bilbao during our stay and they gave us a map and circled the must see places, got suggestions where to go to have good food, and the times for the local events happening... If you have any questions, go there they are very helpful. Can I give a suggestion? Shouldn't this cards be sold in metro or train station? As a I have to come all the way here at your which only open at 9.30am just to purchase the day pass. This is very inconvenient for tourist. FYI, I arrived Bilbao bus station at 6am and need to wait till your is open. Nevertheless city of Bilbao is super beautiful. Maybe I am not the first to say this but perhaps you can feedback to your management. Do something about the sales of day pass ..... Do not burden the tourist. It's a very wrong approach. Bilbao, a city that I have wanted to visit for a long time. The wait was worth it. A truly amazing walkable city, and the people are on a different level when it comes to being friendly. The Basque country be very proud of the Bilbaoistas, a uniquely pleasant endearing people. Love ❤️ from an Irish Red, ❤️ M.U.F.C. I knew very little about Bilbao and the surrounding area when I arrived there as I had not had time to organise my short trip. In this I received very useful info that encouraged me not miss the most important attractions, and to save up money with the transport card. I'm very happy I decided to step in. The are very kind. And I could speak Italian as well!
