We had an amazing time on the Chainwalk! It was challenging but very fun! A little bit of a to find the start but all part of the adventure! Be sure to check the and go within the low range to stay safe from the waves. Also, know that there is no safety harness so, if you fall, you fall. There are some very high drops so a deal of confidence and physical strength is needed. I'd also wish to say it's not suitable for young children, mainly because of the lack of safety harness, but also very importantly there can be some big stretches needed to reach the foot holds and little legs may not manage! The chains can also be a little slippy to hold! Honestly, I'd say children as young as 10 may manage but I'd be more inclined to say 12+ just for safety. The views along the are outstanding and the environment at feels otherworldly with jagged rocks and deep caves. It's just pure adventure and I'll definitely be returning! Highly, highly recommend! Another excellent asset to Fife. The western end needs a over the high point to reach the start point. One slip there & it's probably curtains. See first 2 pics. One of our party couldn't do the vertical ascent so we'll go back. Would not repeat on a hot day as the gets slippery. The Elie is a unique coastal route located in Fife, Scotland. It is the only in the UK, offering a thrilling experience for those with a head for heights. The is approximately 500 meters long but can feel longer due to its challenging nature. What a fantastic and well worth doing. I did feel comfortable all the way along and would recommend it. As long as you've got experience in hiking and a bit of climbing. I do think the along the beach was a bit more intense then the chains them themselves. Make shore you check times. Would recommend you do it there and back as it was a little bit of a different experience. Stay safe and enjoy. Not many pictures of the chains as I'll let you experience them first hand. Amazing walk, from the start to the end will keep the kids happy. The caravan park you go through at the start is a hidden Gem and looks phenomenal also. Be careful with little ones as could be dangerous but we loved today Love this walk, the has been renewed since the last time we were here and if you get the weather it can be fantastic, the views and the world war 2 bunkers and anti-tank blocks gives you an image of what the soldiers must have been thinking. We prefer walking out to Elie Caravan park having a coffee and lunch in the cafe then back over the top side of the hill for the views. This is fun and something different to do. But you have to get the right to be able to do it either safely or without getting wet. If you start at the Caravan site side then the last is the hardest. Really nice little family scramble along the coast. Make sure and check the times. It's an easy enough route (subjective of course) if your fit ISH and your mobility is ok I suspect most folks will be good. Some may find the height in places an issue but the works well for both support and guidance as you progress. Plenty of foot holds on the trickier bits. Its has walking path along the coast, dry weather would be to go walking around this path, how ever if you want to do the chainwalk then, best time is to do when water is in Low tide, as it would take few hrs to complete, i would not recommend for kids under 10-12, I may be wrong, thats what I felt. Well advantageous. Definitely should try. you will love it. Fun scramble across the headlands using a series of chains. Make sure to wear decent shoes (trainers with decent grip or hiking boots) and that you’ve checked as this is not accessible during high tide. We did it in around an hour with stops for photos and rests between the tougher sections but could be done fast if you’re looking to speed through or much slower if you encounter individuals/groups coming from the opposite direction Amazing wee adventure. It can be hard at some points but nothing extreme.
