Really Nice and modern centre. Hydrotherapy was so heavily chlorinated that my eyes stung and i had to leave. It took two showers to wash off. though. I had an extremely bizarre interaction with a member in the today. I won't repeat what was said to me as honestly there could be children reading but it was in regards to the suit I was wearing. Honestly, really weird that she was looking at me so closely and I feel really uncomfortable going back. There aren't many women in the hydro pool/sauna and I wonder if this is why. with a well equipped gym, fabulous pools and nice staff. Good cafe there too. fun for the kids.. the playground is fantastic and heaps of friendly lifeguards and staff. Under $25 for family. 10/10 facilities, kept clean. Wear shoes around the though as the ground is very, very harsh on the tootsies! Don't forget to ask for a locker when arriving as must pay before entering Went there with my 4yo daughter on a week day. Pros: warm in the childrens learning pool Cons: waterpark closed. Signs stated that there was a carnival on, and there were lane closures. No lane closures, only the waterpark. Not sure if it's always closed during the week, or if we got there on a bad day. Brought the kids here on a rainy summer’s day. A big hit, but seems everyone had the same idea, so it was a bit of a kid salad! Also managed to sneak in a session for myself in the 50m indoor pool, which was faster than usual — personally I don’t believe the rumours that they put something in the to make you go faster 😉! A bit confused about a few aspects of this place, and I wish they'd look into it. 1. The website advertises a 50m but the VAST majority of every day, it's halved into 25m lanes. It's only 50m from 6am-10am each weekday. 2. The temperature of the main is quite high for lane swimming. It's around 34 degrees, which is just too hot (particularly for an already warm indoor area). 3. Ironically then, the spa is only lukewarm, so you miss the therapeutic benefits of a hot spa and hot jets after a swim. 4. The sauna also, is lukewarm, the temp gauge is above the heater so it gives a false impression of the heat of the room, and you miss the therapeutic benefits of the sauna. Otherwise, a very impressive venue. Wish they'd bring their in line with other comparable swimming venues. facility, easy to join, enjoyed my time there, however I shifted from the area, therefore required a cancellation of my membership. This is where you need to be careful, I was required to not only give them notice but to fill out a copious amount of questions on a questionnaire, Just to leave. Also, you have to continue to pay for an extra month even if you’re not there, I don’t see the point in this however I would comply. The questionnaire is filled out on their website which I did and submitted. From that point onwards I continue getting notification from them saying you haven’t paid you haven’t paid you haven’t paid you behind you have arrears. I contacted the and was I had to fill out a cancellation membership form online. I explained that I did but I repeated it. Same as above happened again meanwhile money is still coming out of my account. I contacted the to explain this, to be it’s their policy to charge you for the extra month you’re not there, And they hadn’t received any cancellations from me at all. I was put through to somebody else he me they have received my second cancellation therefore it would take me into August before they would stop Taking payment off me. By ignoring my first request, they are managing to get nearly 3 months of payment out of me that I haven’t been there. I asked them if they could consider refunding some of that money, but again I’m is policy In this Situation, not to. I am annoyed of course, but they have me cornered where there’s nothing I can do about it without being in trouble if I withdrew payments. Being such a large business what would they care! Be sure you’re happy with the contract if you sign up, and be prepared to find difficulty getting out of a membership. The itself is great, cant say the same about the management team. I used to see some NDIS clients in the warm but can no longer afford to due to new prices & policies introduced by management. Despite reaching out many times, they've refused to compromise and have put profits ahead of serving community members. I reminded the management team that this is the only accessible warm-water in the southern peninsula region, and they are the only organisation I know of that has introduced fees as high as theirs with policies that make it difficult to continue to access the facility. swims had here recently (Jan 2024) while staying in Melbs for the tennis. Very different from any other aquatic but works well. 30.5 metre lap with crystal clear and only a few lanes for lap swimming. Best to ring ahead of your visit to check availability. Excellent change rooms that have showers ( pressure, temp, clean ) with good hairdryers & straighteners provided! Plenty of helpful 💦 Fantastic splash playground for kids. Adults are allowed to accompany them down the waterslide if needed. Lots of attentive lifeguards on duty. Lots of family change rooms (annoying that you need to push the shower button every 10-15 seconds though). at the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. Rented a locker for $2. Excellent value. Has a large hydrotherapy for over 16s. All Reception but about 1 lady are extremely rude, I come here with a client weekly and reception will blatantly ignore me whilst waiting to ask if I can be let upstairs to wait for my client as she is intellectually impaired and needs me to be with her. They are extremely unapproachable and impolite making me feel like I just want free access to their gym which is untrue. Unfortunately this isn’t the first time I have seen them act this way with one lady treating my client like she was dumb and stupid instead of with the respect she deserves due to having a disability. It’s a real shame that most of the reception are like this because all other are lovely and the are Unfortunately not 5 stars. My first not when a senior member was rude when I tried to buy 10 visits by wanting my email and phone number. When I refused and asked why I was abruptly the system requires it and they are not there to argue. I said I'm not arguing im just asking a question. Awkward ! Why would I trust my email and mobile number to go into that system and be safe ??? Yet paywave works fine for one swim. With the surround in sections is extremely sharp exposed agrigat, making walking barefoot an uncomfortable experience. Contractors should be called back to grind down to the correct code /texture,inspect and repair the cracks. Take some notes from Hastings. Staff poolside are fantastic 10/10. Cleaners and actual cleaning 10/10. Change rooms are small for the size of the establishment. 8 people and it's uncomfortable. The lack of parking can be a nightmare. Hastings by far is a much better set up re: change rooms, parking. Both Yawa and Pelican actual swimming pools are though. Had a pretty disappointing experience today at this facility. Came down for a with my wife and daughter (6 months old). My daughter and I went in the water, however she wasn’t that keen on it, so we decided to get out and get her changed. I decided while we were there that I would use the warm (as I’ve previously had a back operation, so use it as part of my ongoing rehab). I went out to reception as I wanted to confirm that the fee I had paid covered access to this as well. The lady at reception charged me more thinking I wanted access to the steam and sauna room (which was an honest mistake and she offered me a free pass for next time to cover the extra charge, so that was all fine) I went into the warm and my wife and daughter were sitting off to the side (we didn’t want to take my daughter into the pool, I was the only one in the water). Within about 2 minutes they were they weren’t allowed to even be in the room. This wasn’t mentioned at reception and they were made aware that we were together as a family. So in order for me to remain in that my wife and 6 month old would have to sit outside by themselves. Just not a experience, didn’t feel very inclusive for a young family. Please take a moment to read this carefully so you can make an informed and considered decision. I was recently the target of a racially motivated verbal attack and a direct threat of violence from another guest—specifically, I was I would be murdered because of the colour of my skin. I reported the incident immediately. Disappointingly, the centre’s response showed a lack of empathy and urgency. The individual responsible has not been held meaningfully accountable and continues to access the freely. Additionally, there have been troubling reports of Indian couples being asked to leave the spa without explanation, suggesting a broader pattern of discriminatory behaviour. Also, females being accosted by aggressive male behaviour in the same area. I urge you to reflect on whether this is a safe and respectful environment for you. Hi Natalie, I want to make it absolutely clear that my decision to cancel my membership after two years is not a reflection on the staff, but rather on the culture that has been allowed to take root at Yawa. The incident in question — in which I was threatened with a gun and the lives of my family targeted purely because of our skin colour — occurred over eight weeks ago. Despite the gravity of this threat, the individual responsible continues to walk freely through the centre. have been informed multiple times, and multiple members have raised the alarm with management. The response has been disturbingly consistent: dismissive, tepid, and entirely lacking in urgency or understanding. This isn’t just my experience — other members have expressed the same deep concern, only to be met with a shrug. It’s apparent that until someone is seriously harmed or worse, management will continue to turn a blind eye. I've done what I can: reported it to the police, informed your team, and now I’ve cancelled my membership. I hope this message serves as a wake-up call to management: public safety must come before complacency, and the trust of paying members should not be taken for granted. Very expensive for a council owned (not for the people at all) The spa is too cold compared to most public baths I attend. It feels like a tepid bath. The sauna is also colder than most others I attend impossible to build up a sweat. The most ridiculous thing about the is their declaration of having a 50 metre pool, but after 10am pretty much everyday it is split into two 25 metre by a stupid and quite abrasive boom. That's like saying I'm 6'2 on tippy toes. I'd say don't waste your time, but if you wanna lap they own the market in this so can charge what they want and not care about their customers. Worst ever booking experience. Trying to book a class means a twenty minute wait while you wonder if the app is working…..and then you miss out on a place. Our family come here throughout the year as visitors to the Peninsula. The (pool areas and change rooms) are always very clean and in good repair. All and lifeguards are super friendly and it's lovely to see the mix of ages and experience that make up the team. The around the is very 'non slip' and therefore I recommend things/pool shoes if you have sensitive feet. For those watching in the sidelines...you have access to delicious coffee to make the trip all the more worthwhile. Nice facility, but that’s where the positives end. I was double charged multiple times, hit with late fees because of it, and never reimbursed. They blame a third-party company and take no responsibility. Overpriced and not worth the hassle — avoid this gym!
