The Garlic Festival

This event takes place every year on the third weekend of August. We went on Saturday, and to my surprise, there was an entry fee—£14.50 per person, which felt a bit steep. The atmosphere was lively and enjoyable, but the event itself wasn’t very large. Unless you have something specific you want to see or do, you could easily walk through everything in about an hour. The arena area had different shows going on the whole so you can just sit and watch. The other side of the land also had bands playing on stage. The highlight for us was definitely the grilled sweetcorn. The queue was long the entire we were there, which makes sense—it was absolutely delicious. Prices were £4 each or £10 for three, not cheap! We also tried the bread with mushrooms. While the flavor was good, the portion size felt too small for the price. Beyond the food, there were different things to explore: arts, jewelry, music, animals, and various food stalls. It’s worth a visit if your budget allows. The place has just about everything you might want to see or buy, which saves you from driving around to multiple spots. For example, we didn’t need to make a separate trip to the farm since we found what we wanted here. It was a fun experience to try once, but considering the high cost of admission and food, along with the overall scale of the event, I don’t think I’d choose to go again. An interesting ‘county’ show. The usual dog displays, animals, various and food wagons. Funfair at the far end of the field. There seemed to be too many people for the loos and food to cope with and queues were significant. That said, it was an enjoyable few hours. Good wholesome fun. This is the first we have ever visited the festival and it's one of the best days out my little ones have ever had. It's packed full of activities and games for them and not to mention the small fun fair that they also have. As for us "adults" there are lots of filled stuff to try and some live entertainment. My biggest highlight with something related has to be the roasted butter corn... It was really good. I didn't get to try the ice-cream because it sold out before 1 pm so for future reference we will be getting it early. The are good, lots of variety and plenty of free booze to test... We did end up buying some Vodka and Gin. As for toilet facilities they were good enough, you can expect that portable toilets aren't the best most of the but they were pretty clean at the beginning of the day... Not so much at the end but that is the visitors fault not the toilet company. Parking was a bit confusing, we were told to go park on another field opposite Amazon World but we couldn't do that due to disabilities, it was way too far from where we needed to be. Luckily one of the older guys working there directed us to the other, much closer car park. Overall very pleased with this place. Very expensive food and drinks , but nice atmosphere. And.... no to buy Had a great at the festival! Lots of garlicky foods like ice cream, and even vodka! Lots to do, ax throwing etc. Lots to see. Even a psychic there doing card readings! A lot of food stall's & activities. Lots of varieties of to buy Just visited the isle of wight for the first to go to the festival traveling from plymouth. We had a very enjoyable day, brought our dogs with us, it was their first holiday. About 5 big tents filled with lots of of small local businesses, lots of other outside in their own tents, a whole tent for the farm (garlic ice cream and beer was purchased!) a beer tent, a tiny tea tent with scones which i sadly didnt get around to trying. Plenty of outside hot food stalls, we ended up with a burger with bacon cheese and the garlicy-ist mayo weve ever eaten 😋 and the bbq'd corn on the cob covered in butter was delicious. The dogs enjoyed their own cooled plain corn on the cob later! The main stage had music and we saw some of the chilli and eating challenge. The main arena in the center had lots going and we caught some of the dog agility show which was really good. My only comment is that it was a very hot day and what was lacking was shade! We had to hide out in the beer tent a few times for us and the dogs to cool down a bit, so did alot of other dog owners. We would gladly have stayed longer and watched the music or more of the events in the main arena but it was just too hot. A load of parasols dotted around where there are things to stand/sit and watch would have been really great. We could tell who the locals or previous attendees were as they had brought chairs, umberellas or small garden parasols with them! Definitely something we would like to go to again, though a little more prepared with large umbrellas next time!
