We had a warm greeting from are hostess Lesley who showed us to our table and then took are drinks order and left us to decide what to eat. It was a hard choice with such a wide range of food on the menu. My wife has dietary needs and Lesley was brilliant explaining how they could accommodate her. I decided on the black and blue burgers with made chips, onion rings and made relish. My wife ordered a sirloin steak with new potatoes and a special salad. When the food arrived it was well presented and both meals were very tasty. We were both surprised and how big the portion size was. The table next to us had the made pie. I have never seen such a big pie and it looked amazing and our next visit i will definitely be having that. The Bay Horse is amazing inn with warm friendly staff and great food. What a pleasure to eat here beautiful food service with a smile and able to have a smaller plate which was wonderful Oh what a gem of a place! The Bay Horse was recommended to us and wow we are so glad we visited! The pub itself is well decorated and has a lovely atmosphere. The outside space will be perfect on a warm day. I had one of the Good Friday Specials, Clam Chowder, and it was fabulous to look at and the flavour????? Amazing! Chock full of prawns, mussels, clams, squid and fish in a rich flavoursome chowder. My husband had the Made Chicken Kiev.Big crispy coated chicken breast running with garlic butter as you cut it! Delicious. We expected the puds to be the usual bought in tasteless pub pud. NO. The Sticky Toffee Pud and Crumbly Apple and Berry Crumble were clearly made and sooo good. Thank you all at The Bay Horse! A truly great experience. We will definitely return, - with friends. :) 10/10 make room for dessert x Food coma tastic x Rare to find a good pub like this anymore. Food is exceptional, cooked and top quality good luck if you can finish the portions. I was desperate to try rhe cheesecake so actually got it boxed to take away. Service is 10/10, friendly and welcoming (thanks Sarah and Lucy). This is what a country pub should be..... Found this place just by chance and will be returning a lot after this visit alone. Even my Frenchie was made to feel welcome. The food was absolutely spectacular. Value, portions and flavours all bang on. Clearly the bar staff and owners know what they’re doing as the beer was absolutely on point. We live in the village, after a few years of not coming into the bay horse because of the food. We decided to try again!! 4th time we have eaten here the food is delicious ( amazing chef & team) & the service was lovely always asking if everything was ok and if there is anything we needed. Finally a great village pub with fantastic staff & food again. Highly recommended and thank you We visited The Bay Horse while on holiday as a family and it ended up being one of the real highlights of our trip. The food was absolutely outstanding, with every meal cooked to perfection and full of flavour. The staff were amazing and incredibly accommodating, making a real effort with our three young boys, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The locals were friendly and welcoming, creating a relaxed and inviting atmosphere that made us feel right at home. A special mention goes to Sarah, who was the best host. She was kind, attentive and clearly takes great pride in making sure every guest is looked after. Highly recommended. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area. I have been with my family quite a few times over the last few months as the play area is great when the weather is nice. Every time I have been the food has been excellent. The trouble is the atmosphere of the staff and owners towards actually providing service is bizarre. I have only ever been in good weather so never booked and always sat outside. Every time I have tried to order food, I have been asked if I’ve booked in an accusatory manner. When I’ve then gone on to ask to dine outside it is as though actually spending your money here is actively discouraged. I have been repeatedly told that they will have to check how many checks the kitchen have on, that there will be a long wait even when I’ve explained I’m not in a rush and even if I wait 2 hours it really doesn’t matter and just generally made to feel like an inconvenience. The chap behind the bar has told me on numerous occasions that he ‘doesn’t do food’ and on my last visit described it as ‘bullshit’ despite the fact that I’m sure it makes up the lions share of the pub’s trade. It’s just a really strange atmosphere that is fostered by those in charge. I know of 2 other parties who have actually decided not to eat here because of the unwelcome reception they received. If the owners would be willing to learn to deliver some genuine hospitality, this would be a real gem.
