Akureyri, Iceland Thermal baths

Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. A warm water bath is a good idea, but the area is complicated to hike. It’s always better to prioritise safety. Love getting to get into the free Hot spring. It was amazing and easy to find and so much fun. Just enough room for two people, maybe three. If you look at it too, there's two different Hot springs that you can get to one's a little bit higher than the other one. Great hidden spot. Very Small. Rocky. Not for the less mobile. Excellent view Amazing hidden warm waterfall. A definite must see. There's steam at the top (nowhere to park, and the water is fast/steep) but by the time it gets to the middle it's tepid. Leaving Akureyri, cross the fjord and head uphill, take the left exit at the roundabout. There's a left turning onto a gravel track - park at the top and walk down, or head down in your vehicle. You'll see where people have made a short path towards the water. There's nothing else there. Great views over the fjord and town. Water tepid but the experience was exhilarating. Very short walk to the falls. The water is barely warm but you could bathe in the small alcoves if you wanted. Wow! We almost didn’t notice and drove past this absolute gem until we saw a man standing in nothing but a swimsuit, so we got curious and went over. For anyone desiring a truly unique and natural hot spring experience, this is the place. We stayed a bit over an hour but the water wasn’t warm enough to stay in for longer, we all started freezing pretty quickly. Nonetheless, completely worth it. When we arrived there were some others there and while we stayed probably three couples came and went, so it seems to be a well known spot, I was surprised it barely showed up on Google Maps. We very enjoyed the place but accidentally left our shoes there (2 pairs of black tracking shoes, one from ON and one from Mamut). We left them there in the early afternoon, Sat. 23.08.2025. If someone finds our shoes we would be very happy to be contacted here in the comments.
