That's probably the most interesting and breathtaking place to see in Luxembourg. Thoroughly enjoyable afternoon for all the family. Only thing to be aware of is there are a lot of steps (both up and down the mine) but it was fascinating and well worth a visit. The Johanna underground mine tour was fabulous and a great way to experience mining over the centuries. The lighting used as a form of exhibition is brilliant. You get a good sense of the conditions of miners and the sheer volume of slate required and how it is moved around. Definitely will want sturdy non slip shoes and a light jacket, there are lots of water drips. Also worth remembering 300 plus stairs down then up. Highly recommend this for anyone or families looking for something different. A beautiful place with passionate employees. We were here with our Kids and spent about 2.5 hrs. It has a lot of potential to be a serious attraction if they just did a little better marketing. I hope this review helps. The prize is very low, the terain is freely accessible for the mine and little train you pay a small amount. Cool to go 41 metres below ground level and experience the dark and moist tunnels.
