A dive. People seemed friendly enough but it the climbing frame was a death trap and the place looked like it is in desperate need of gutting and decorating. I'm surprised its still running as a pub considering how badly run down it is. We were intending to eat but left after a drink to find somewhere else We had a lovely lunch here. We had the sausage, egg and chips and the steak and onion baguettes. Everything was cooked to perfection and was tasty. There is a play area for children and a bouncy castle. We loved the pub dog, Fudge. She was so playful and kept bringing us her ball to play fetch. The staff were friendly and helpful. Unfortunately we don't live in the area, but we will definitely come by next time we are nearby. Lovely dinner 3&2 course. Great value and tasty. Pleasant atmosphere all around, lovely staff. Very cozy space to have dinner with the dogs, area behind the bar, generous enough , plus outdoors garden with lovely tables and big umbrellas. Quality of service +++++ thank you. 😉🐾 Booked for 3pm Sunday dinner for 4. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was very nice and enough to feed an army. After starter and dinner there was no room for desert. Price was good as was the beer. Recommended. Attentive friendly staff and the food that I ordered was enjoyable. Was advised that there was a bit of a wait for food but to be honest my food order arrived in reasonably quick time (and I'm from London where the pace of life tends to be quicker). They offer a small and a large portion size of fish and chips - the one in the photo was of their small portion which was plenty large enough even for my healthy appetite! Will be back to try out some of the other meals this week as I'm staying in the area on holiday and this is effectively my nearest local. What a little gem hiding in plain view. I'd not visited here for a very long time. The exterior lets it down a little, but don't be fooled and do venture inside. The pub has been modernized but with a very tasteful touch, keeping authentic character in a spotlessly clean and comfortable way. You'll find a warm welcome with excellent food and service. Granted it was quiet today, but the genuine warmth from the owners speaks volumes. Three different meals, and sweets, and all were very much enjoyed. We will be returning very soon. Excellent food. Lovely staff. Great atmosphere. Good prices. Perfect countryside pub, can’t really ask for much more Just had a tasty and filling Sunday lunch. At £17 for a main I want to get plenty on the plate and fair play was just enough portion. Staff were friendly and quick in serving. Worth driving from Monmouth/ raglan to venture off route here.
