The highlight of the day was the half-hour tobogganing session — so much fun for both the little ones and the adults! It brought back childhood memories, and we all couldn’t stop laughing. After that we gathered around the fire in the forest to roast marshmallows, which we paired with chocolate biscuits— such a treat for everyone. We also enjoyed delicious hot chocolate, making the even cosier. The food for the at the Alpine Lodge was fantastic, and the throughout the day were incredibly friendly and helpful. Thank you! While the canteen does not have a vast menu, it is very reasonably priced and serves good food, perfect after . We had the paninis. We have camped at Basecamp twice now and both times had a really good time. We took our two children (5 months and 5 years old). There are lots of free during the summer holidays, along with the large sandpit and small play area. There are also paid which are brilliant for a range of ages. You can buy everything you need on site which makes it easy for camping. We will definitely be back again! Can't recommend enough. The booking system is great, the check in team are brilliant and every instructor the children have had have been outstanding. They have done archery, rock climbing, canoeing, assault course, caving and abseiling and over every minute. We had such a good time Air Rifle shooting, we came back the next day and had a game of Frisbee golf - it was such fun! The were so lovely, the whole was chilled! Just loved it! Highly recommend.. We were a group of 36 including kids. We had an overnight stay at Mendip. It was a beautiful site, had ample open space, comfortable and clean tents. Easy check in and friendly staff. Fab place to camp, choose your own place to pitch, are lovely - friendly and helpful. Nice hub area where you can get hot food, nice coffee and places to sit. Although I don’t have there is so much for them to do, from paid like archery or frisbee golf to the play areas and all the woodland to explore. There are also bunk houses you can rent if you don’t want the hassle or putting up a tent, also bell tents. You can also have a fire pit - bring your own or rent one from the hub (the also sell wood etc) Having caught the shooting bug after an exploration into clay pigeon shooting we opted for a slightly less audibly assaulting air rifle option as a triple. Ross was an engaging tutor and despite the wind trying to throw us off our aim, a frightfully good time was had by all! We had a three night stay at Basecamp. The campsite is great, it has plenty of facilities and a relaxed atmosphere. It's quiet at night even when busy. are really helpful. Over our stay we had canoeing, paddleboarding and skiing sessions at Mendip Activity Centre - three of the party had some skiing so had a private lesson and were thrilled to have it confirmed that they are at a recreational level and can now ski independently at the centre. Another two really enjoyed the Try Skiing class. We also played frisbee golf which was fun! All the were great, are knowledgeable and relaxed, adapting each session to the needs and abilities of the participants. This was our third stay at Basecamp and won't be our last. Highly recommend the campsite and all the activities! We had a fantastic time axe throwing at Mendip Activity Centre today! The whole family joined in, and it was such a fun and for all of us. Our instructor, Joe, was amazing—he was patient, encouraging, and made the session super enjoyable. He gave us tips to improve our technique, and by the end, even the were hitting the targets.....sometimes! The atmosphere was friendly and relaxed, and the setup was perfect for families. We’ll definitely be back, as we have lots of credit left on our vouchers! We attended Mendip Activity Centre as a family on 1st March. We booked for axe throwing and tobogganing. Plenty of parking when we arrived, booking in was simple. Axe throwing- we had instructor John and he was absolutely brilliant! John was professional, fun and really knowledgeable, who knew that there was so much more to axe throwing than just throwing it! Our 1.5 hours went so quickly and John kept all of us engaged the whole time! You were thanks again! Tobogganing- super fun for the 7 of us aged between 7-47! We will definitely be returning!
