Busy Easter Sunday lunch with 4 generations. Our service from Caitie was exemplary. Friendly, cheerful, helpful, coped when half our party decamped to an outdoor due to issues with a nervous dog and a 3-year-old... She really made the day for us. Such a great place to come for a Sunday lunch- definitely the best roast potatoes we've ever had! Crispy on the outside, fluffy inside.....delicious. The veggie butternut and beetroot loaf was very good, and the chicken dinner also hit the spot. The only complaint from our was that the beef was rather tough and chewy. We enjoyed a simple dessert of ice cream and chocolate with dried fruit and nuts - all in all a really good lunch. The staff are all so professional, there was a nice welcome, a smiley cheerful waitress, and efficient bar staff. Will definitely be back! Hadn’t booked a so we were delighted there was room for us on a very wet Thursday lunchtime. Quiet when we arrived but steady flow of people through the door. Food delicious and reached the piping hot. Children’s menu limited (burger or fish and chips) but my granddaughter said her burger was great. Good range of beers which we sadly couldn’t try properly due to driving home. Puddings were fresh cooked so took slightly longer to get to the but absolutely worth waiting for! I’d completely recommend! The wild mushroom risotto was a true delight — perfectly cooked rice, just the right amount of salt, pepper, and quality Parmesan, with a generous abundance of flavorful wild mushrooms and oyster mushrooms. It even exceeded the mushroom risotto I had at the Michelin-starred Überfahrt restaurant the week before. The salad was also excellent: really fresh greens, which are generally a litmus test for the quality of catering. The sauce was very light, yet appetizing. Service was quick and friendly. I am very impressed and will definitely come back soon. Haven’t been to this pub in ages. But as it’s under new management we thought we’d pop in. Inside the pub looks fresher and brighter. There’s a lovely new decking area outside and an entirely new menu. We enjoyed some sunshine outside. I had chicken with fennel and siracha (spelling?!) mayonnaise. Husband had lamb with hummus and veggies. Kids both had fish and chips. All sloshed down with a really nice rose. A delightful place to sit and enjoy the flowers. Amazing service and the food was outstanding. of 4 plus a baby and we all had Sunday roasts. Pork belly and beef were delicious. Will absolutely return next time we're in the area. Absolute perfection. Popped in on route to New Forest for a weekend getaway so hadn’t booked. Really friendly staff and stunning food. The highlight. Nice atmosphere - wonderful cosy interior and lovely terrace. The rest. We arrived at 515 on a Sunday to an empty pub only about 4 occupied tables. It still took close to 40 min to get our kids fish and chips and a pork belly roast. Fine. Ordered pudding at 630. A gingerbread cookie with ice cream. It took 45 minutes for a single pudding to come out of the kitchen. Mind you this is with two reminders to the waitress. After 45 min we received this burnt cookie for £8. Our waitress was lovely but there were only two for the entire pub that was very full on a Sunday evening - completely understaffed. If you want a lovely interior and terrace, go for drinks. If you want an exorbitant wait and mediocre food, come for a roast.
