Let down by uncollected dog mess on the paths and occasionally on the pitches, new fence bordering the dual carriageway and a recently installed water fountain. Can be a bit messy at weekends with bottles and fast food wrapping left near but not in the bins. Close to town , shops.. parking for car's free whilst gates are unlocked. This is the best place in Monmouth for a picnic. I decided to honour its name by only bringing chips and ham to the picnic blanket. My friends, who are staunch vegans, were far from impressed. Obviously, the chips went down well (even though I kept it to myself that they were deep fried in the best beef dripping) but the ham was untouched. I ate a lot of ham that day but it was some of the finest cuts which, needless to say, has made me rate this so favourably. Regardless, this can be enjoyed by herbivores and carnivores alike.
