Beautiful location, very fine food and good service Lovely menu, and location, service was good overall, but the younger girl waiting tables seemed to actively change her friendliness level from happy and smiling to much less friendly when dealing with British tables. Food was great, but the French fries (admittedly not the best measure in such a good place) seemed like frozen chips. A small thing, but still... All in all the starters and the desserts were the highlights, mains a little less so. We ordered the pre-concert pre-fix one hot night in August and had some of the best lamb I've ever had. The service was friendly and efficient in a special setting. I would definitely come back and try the full menu. You won't be disappointed. What a wonderful restaurant. A fabulous welcome (we hadn’t booked), food and setting were beautiful. We’ll definitely go back on our next visit to The Dordogne. We were lucky enough to find Chez Julian during a holiday in the area last week. We travelled with another Family, and both couples got to come here on one evening. We were completely “wowed” by the whole experience! The setting was like something out of a dream, or a movie. We would gladly have tried one of every item on the menu, which was extensive, with 2 set menu options as well as a la carte to choose from. We were more than happy with the selections we made! Julien himself is the most gracious host. He made us feel like his own personal guests, without being any way over-bearing. We thank Julien for an unforgettable dining experience, and very much hope to visit again in the future.
