We had such a in the Fantastic Beasts room! Shauna was our host and she was very and helpful. The was and well planned out - our only slight improvement would be for the music to be quieter or the clips of the person speaking to be louder, as we struggled to hear him over said music. Finished our trip with some mocktails which were lovely. All in all, it was a trip and would definitely recommend it! Came for our second room, 1st was chaos in the cosmos and today we did fantastic beasts and what to feed them. The are amazingly thought through with puzzles that challenge and are out of the ordinary making you think. Completed the today in time. Thank you to the at the venue who are knowledgeable and friendly, and always willing to have a chat after you complete. Simply amazing will definitely be going back again Fantastic morning out at Escapologist Metrocentre. We completed the Chaos on the Cosmos and enjoyed it so much that we booked on to do another straight after. The are very well set out and offered a good challenge for our family. The bar area is and the were extremely and helpful. We can’t wait to come back! Myself and 2 friends, successfully completed 'The Infected' with just over 1 minute to spare. Over the years I have done multiple and would give this a solid 7.5 out of 10. The had elements and puzzles that I have never seen before and it was certainly challenging. I'd definitely return to try another game. The reason it didn't get full marks from me is due to the place being a bar as well as an room, it's means the aren't 100% focused on overseeing the games. We came to a bit of a stand still at one point because the next part of the wasn't being unlocked, the person overseeing our wasn't watching the screen at the (missed our multiple attempts at the puzzle) and didn't unlock the next step when we were doing what we needed to do. I was told this by another member of after the game. This delayed our for a couple of minutes until it was finally unlocked. In addition, the instructions/story/rules were given via a video - in the - rather than in person, which was a shame. Banter with the master is usually a highly enjoyable aspect of an which this lacked. I'm putting these points down to The Escapologist being a bar with a in it rather than just being a place for rooms. The are literally unable to give the gamers their full attention and while serving drinks. Overall though it was a experience. My friends enjoyed a drink before playing so the bar is a unique selling point over other in the area. We have done three so far, Chaos in the Cosmos, The Infected and Temple Raider. I've done a few over the year with the latest being my tenth and I have been seriously impressed with these rooms. The attention to detail is amazing, the decor, the atmosphere are top notch. Once you the are just so friendly, they must hear everyone's stories about what went right and wrong over and over again but they are so enthusiastic and interested when you come out all pumped up. We can't wait to come back and do another here! Would 10/10 recommend if this is your thing. If it's not you can ask for clues throughout the to give you a nudge. I booked to go here with my family (6 of us in total) on Monday 30th Dec 2024. We have done lots of between us and were really looking forward to this. When we arrived, the decor was very impressive and unique. We quickly spoke to and explained that 2 of our party were stuck in traffic. As they were fully booked, they explained that we couldn't wait for them to arrive before starting which we completely understood. We were shown to the and the member of briefly explained some safety instructions before turning on a briefing video and leaving us to it. Thankfully, the rest of our party arrived only a few minutes later and didn't miss much at all. The itself was average with both good and bad aspects. What we liked: - The idea of magnetic locks that spring open when you complete a puzzle elsewhere - staff - The first section of our was very challenging in a positive way which we really enjoyed - General design of the setup was well thought out What we didn't like: - Chalkboard outside said 10% off on Mondays, which we were not offered when booking online to play on a Monday. When we saw this upon arrival, we felt disappointed. - Decor of the was not of the same quality as other we have played - When we asked for a clue (our only clue), we followed the staff's instructions and waved at the camera as they cannot hear us. It took a couple of minutes of waving for the clue to appear on the screen which made me think that the cameras were not being monitored. - The itself went wrong on two occasions - once when one of the magnetic doors was opened with little effort just by touching it, when a puzzle should have been required to open it. Another when the wrong item was used to solve a puzzle and the final door unlocked for us to exit, when we had not solved all of the puzzles. We were all very confused by this and waited to see if anything else happened or if a member came to greet us. This did not happen, which again leads me to think that nobody was watching the cameras. I then exited the and found the member of who briefed us, explaining that we had not finished and that the final door had opened in error. She came into the and informed us that we had used the wrong piece and that the door had opened because of this. Surely this is a fault with the that the wrong piece is even able to unlock the door! She left us to finish the game, and we still managed to complete it without doing all puzzles anyway. We completed our in approximately 28 minutes and we felt as though we did not get our money's worth for this and left feeling deflated and anticlimactic - was that it?! We should have been happy to escape, and we weren't. We will not be rushing back to the Escapologist. The was amazing! Did a magical minis party for my daughter’s birthday and the girls all loved it. were so attentive and down to having the drinks ready as we came out the room! We escaped with 7 minutes to spare and will definitely be trying the remaining rooms. Loved you could take drinks in the also, definitely me and my partner loved that idea while the girls were running around. 10/10. Think a date night is on the cards so we can try some of those cocktails. Some of these one star reviews are clearly by bots cause some of their complaints simply aren't true. We had a in our room, was amazing the different that opened up when we unlocked different puzzles, very cleverly done and impressive. Plus the added BENEFIT of having a reasonably priced (price written on the menu) cocktail was just a bonus!! Love the theme of the whole place, very creative. The were lovely, as soon as you walk in. They are they asking how you are. James on the bar was especially friendly! Overall, seems really popular! idea having an in the metrocente! Well done! Today we had the most amazing at the room. We did the fantastic beasts and it was truly a 10/10 experience. I’m autistic and i’ve never done one before so i was a very apprehensive however, it exceeded my expectations. There was a crawling aspect to it and a part where you have to climb down a ‘ladder’ but they were both fairly easy to manoeuvre and didn’t cause any issues whatsoever. The music wasn’t too loud and didn’t cause me any discomfort and the itself wasn’t too overstimulating. Despite this, you do have the option to leave at any point through the door you started in as it’s unlocked (but closed obviously ) the entire time. The in our were wonderful!! So welcoming and explained the process and very well. We also had some mocktails which were gorgeous. Absolutely planning on coming back here again - we had a truly wonderful experience. x We had a work night out here on Sunday Playing the new interactive darts. Absolutely brilliant night Lovely staff, drink options including fantastic cocktails Sam the manageress couldn’t have been any accommodating to us all. Thank you for a brilliant night. We will definitely be back. Team Big Luke’s Was a good laugh, and a cracking experience. Was a bit confusing at first but once you turned your brain on, you got into it. Was very warm and welcoming and was 10 out of 10. Cocktails were spot on and fantastic venue. Good value for money, will come again! We played the space themed today as a family if 3 (2adults and 8yo). Bar and entrance are gorgeous and although new were very friendly, helpful and knowledgable about the rooms. We were able to walk straight in to a which was brilliant. The itself was really enjoyable, a use of space and some really unique puzzles. Took us about 30 mins which we thought was good value. The only negative I’d say is that all the are so close together that you can hear lots from the other which was confusing sometimes as we thought we were setting things off in our we couldn’t find. We’ll definitely be back to try out other Recently visited for a birthday day out and it did not disappoint. We had some drinks in the bar which has fab decor. The was the big top and it was challenging and fun. We had a bit of a mishap at the beginning as one of the clues was missing but after that everything went smoothly! Would definitely recommend! Absolutely amazing for my birthday. 5 of us completed the infected (with hints from the staff). Ive completed escaoe in various locations around Newcastle and Durham and from arriving Kris and Shauna couldn't have done more to make our amazing. We had fun in the and drinks after. Thanks for a fab day! Kris and Shauna really deserve a massive shout out Took my son for his first yesterday, every member of we spoke to were so and welcoming, reasonably priced drinks and the itself was really fun to do. A few of the props had been ripped open by previous guests and not repaired which made it unclear if they were supposed to be used in the or not. Also some heavy duty work going on in the bar meant we had to shout to hear each other over the outside noise quite a few times which was a shame. Overall we both had a have recommended to friends and are planning on trying another one of the family together in future.
